Vodafone botches Blackberry Storm launch, Verizon Wireless says nothing

Our buddies across the pond in the UK, awoke this morning to some great news. Vodafone, via an official press release, launched the Blackberry Storm and announced that it will be available on November 14th. Don’t get too excited as that launch date, nary a few hours old, may have already been pushed back to November 18th. Vodafone’s own Storm pre-order page has been updated to reflect the November 18th date and rumors bouncing around the Vodafone forums also suggest a delay. What is Vodafone doing to us? Adding to the whole Storm debacle is Verizon Wireless who also issued a press release on Thursday and said absolutely NOTHING new about its Blackberry Storm. No launch date, no pricing, just a rehash of how awesome the Storm is. Unbelievable. Is this turning into the world’s worst launch or what?

The Storm is ready, it takes 6 months to have them ready and box them for retail and web orders. They can’t have 250,000 devices sitting on a table for an engineer to fix then repackage get real.

Worst launch ever? Worse than the Bold launch? What are you guys smoking?

The first even semi-proposed(non-official) release date given on this site has been mid-Nov. Even if its delayed a week or month its still not that bad considering that Verizon only admitted that this phone existed about a months ago.

On the other hand, RIM told us back in May that by the summertime we would all be Rocking our AT&T 9000’s. By August, everyone from Antarctica to Zimbabwe was walking around with a BOLD, but in the US no BOLD. RIM would keep telling “by the end of the month” again and again and we saw nothing. In the UK, Orange even had pull the 9000’s off the shelves secondary to software problems. Finally, on the one day in every 4yrs when the American media is focused on 1 & only thing, the BOLD is finally released.

If that’s not the worst launch ever, I don’t know what is
