Verizon Storm approximate pricing revealed from contest terms
The nation’s soon-to-be largest wireless carrier has inadvertently shed some light on one of the biggest questions on the minds of anxious Storm fans across the country. Thanks to the contest terms and conditions regarding Verizon’s BlackBerry Storm scavenger hunt taking place in New York, it looks like the Approximate Retail Value (ARV) is set at a relatively reasonable $499. To quote the terms exactly:
Prizes: Daily Grand Prizes (50): A BlackBerry “Storm” 9500 Smartphone and a $50 Verizon Wireless gift card Approximate Retail Value (”ARV”): $549 each
$499 of course represents the handset cost before any carrier subsidies or mail-in rebates are factored in. Once the Storm get its discounts on, it looks like we should be in store for a pretty competitive 2-year contract price. Sweet - now all we have to do is wait for VZW to, umm, actually release the phone. To check out the full terms for yourself, hit the read link and then click the NYC Storm Hunt link in the lower left corner.

Are you hearing of a possible release date or is Verizon still waiting for a final software build?

I hope, err, wish that AT&T picks up the GSM Storm and releases it exactly when Verizon “decides” to release their puppy. Now THAT would be some awesome carrier competition heatness!

missed the boat here chief. Crackberry posted on this days ago. I just wish that they would get it bug free and offer some insight into when it will be released, the price is becoming a non-issue. I know that BG himself can’t find enough bad things to say about it, but I think this things is gonne be da bomb and there are many others like me out there. So go ahead BG keep on pecking away and backspacing on your precious Iphone while the rest of us are clicking away on your BB Storms. I just downloaded OS 4.5 from Verizon and if this is any indication of how the Storm is gonna work than Apple is toast. Long live RIM and the apple is goin Sour

I just hope it’s released next week.
@ Tyrone it’s kind of impossible since Verizon has exclusivity rights to the Storm for a while.

so what another $299 BB?
not a bad price but was hoping for something lower.

My guess is $199 after mail-in-rebate with a release anywhere from Nov 24th to early December.

You’re late to this party. God forbid you give credit to either of the 2 sites who ran this days ago. W E A K……..

@likeabite - damn you! i completely forgot about that. well, i’m just confused over the Bold, Storm and Javelin, hence, I still haven’t picked up the Bold.

I love how people are always like oh your so late, there is a tip link. Why dont you try using it? And they credited people in the bottom, so go someone else with the lets give credit.
I was assuming they were going to subsidize it to $199, so it can compete directly with the iPhone. $299 isnt bad but I think that would turn a lot of people off.
I doubt anyone knows but any ideas of how long Verizon has exclusivity rights?

@Stop-N-Go
Actually jerk, we were the first ones to post this information and were the only ones actually correct about what we reported, had you read the comments. It was first $299 ARV and then VZW changed it to $549 ARV. We just felt it deserved a separate post, and even though we didn’t have to, we decided to credit another site who just ran the story because we’re such good guys.

Let him know BG lol
lol Sorry Tyrone didn’t mean to kill it for you. You can still get the Bold though if you still want it after waiting so long.

By looking at our commisions sheet, if the ARV is 549 the most expensive we’d sell it for would be 299 - 100 MIR making it 199. And that’s if the customer only had a 39.99 plan. If they had a higher plan we could bring the price down even more.
That’s what I love about being an Authorized Retailer… we get to set our own prices!!!

This phone will be made on it’s tactile touchscreen keyboard. I am hoping it is as wonderful as the initial impressions have stated. In my opinion, Verizon has the best wireless network hands down.

I want to try VZW, but is EDVO-Rev A as fast as WiFi? Which one is faster?

@BG
In defense of Stop-n-go. Read crackberry forums and you would have seen endless posts about this about 10 minutes after the site went live.

UH Verizon has the most expensive network in the US, hands down. The thunder is nice though. how much internal memory does it have?

@BG don’t be mad at me because I speak the truth. First off, the night this launched there were 2 separate versions, one said $549 and the other $299. Now I can show you proof 2 other sites ran this before you…..

You’re original post went on Nov 3rd at 2:30 am. CB posted theirs on Nov 2nd. BBN got both prices up and posted before 2:30am Nov 3rd

Sorry, you are right. We had this written up around 5 minutes after site launched but we didn’t pub ’til a couple hours later. Regardless, there’s no need for YOU DIDN’T GET IT FIRST YOU DIDN’T GET IT FIRST. If you feel that way, you are free to browse any other site in place of BGR.

Not that this is offical by any means, but our company is a Verizon house and 2 different Verizon reps in different departments told our corporate phone person that the 17th of November was the date it would be available to us.

Um the VZW is so expensive talk is so so tired. I the plans are exactly the same bb unlimited is only 29.99 bis. Also vzw has a huge network soon to be the largest so free mins are more likely with them and does att let u txt and pix msg other customers for free?
Didn’t think so (drops mic walks away…….)

Take however you want it, and minimize however you like. If I didn’t like the site, I wouldn’t be here. But its just funny how other sites will give you credit, yet you refuse to do the same.

Gee, I wonder if this douchebag writes for one of the site’s he whining about. He’s not transparent at all.

Yeah BGR, you suck because you don’t give any credit! Oh, wait.

Pick on him all you want but he is correct… all websites, news papers, etc. will give credit when credit is due and it’s not their exclusive
