Samsung Glyde problems fixed with software update
Just a few days ago, Verizon pulled the brakes on the Samsung Glyde stopping all sales and pulling units off the shelves for unspecified issues (we think they were turning into evil Transformers, but that’s just us). Whatever the issues were – whether it was the screen, new bugs or network issues, it has all been resolved by a simple software update. It seems like a complete halt of sales was pretty drastic because the Glyde was back in business in no time after the halt of sales was called. So if you have the Glyde and are suffering from bugs and general problems with the phone, your software update is on the way some time this week.




OK, i got my software update and my phone has worked perfect.
If you already have the glyde can you get the upgrade for free ? or you gotta buy it?
So I had the glyde since july and in the past month I’ve been having issues with the touch screen. I finally went to the verizon store and they updated the software. Of course within 15 min of messing around with the new screen it started acting up again.
Well so I brought it back in and they gave me a brand new LG Dare. For free. No questions asked no paperwork. And I dont have a mantaince plan for it! I even was able to turn my car charger in for a new one. Must say Im happy with verizon. It seems theyve solved the problem if you are having issues by just giving you an entirely different phone.
i have the new update and it has done nothing for my phone. if anything it has made it worse
Seriously this phone is THE GOD DAMNED DEVIL! I bought the thing last year, for a fortune by the way, and it’s been trying my patience ever since.
Dont get me wrong, I like Verizon and all but not enough to try and defend thier shitty products. Before this phone I had both generations of the LG Chocolate, which were also crappy ass phones made by some retarded child in a third world country somewhere.
Anyway, after 2 years of having a hunk of plastic that barely qualified as a phone I decided to get the Glyde thinking “This is gonna be the best thing ever! Look how cool that phone looks, look at it’s awesome touch screen! YAY I cant wait!”
I walk into the Verizon store, buy the phone, a bluetooth head set, a car charger, and a little leater carrying case, and walk out of the store with song and a smile, I was on top of the world, what could go wrong now that I got this awesome new phone, then the Verizon Crappy Product God slapped me in the face and said “FUCK YOU AND YOUR HAPPINESS” and he cursed my life with shitty buttons, hard to navigate menus, and the worst excuse for a “touch screen” I’ve ever witnessed. I’m taking this thing back, getting a new WORKING phone, and shant be paying a cent for it. DO NOT GET THE GLYDE!!!
I have the same exact problems and have had 2 software upgrades, which did nothing but change the interface. My phone still goes “crazy” when I touch it. I even bought a $25 cover, which I thought might help with the sensitivity issue, but has not really helped either.
One of the verizon stores I went to, the guy who worked there said he was on his 5th replacement phone.
Why can’t they just let us get another model if we want if they know this is wrong? Couldn’t something like this be a class action lawsuit? It is an expensive phone-we all have the same problems with it and verizon is trying to make us go away by these BS software upgrades that don’t fix the problem. One of their slogans states how reliable they are. How reliable is this phone when you can get the numbers to dial? What if I need to dial 911 and I can’t because it is faulty? Hmmmmm?? Any attorneys around?
Hey… i was thinking the same thing because what if i’m in a emergency and can’t do anything about it.. it seems like i have the same problem as everyone else… my phone always wigs out… i mean the battery is fully charged and everything.. it just doesn’t want to cooperate..
I am so over this piece of crap called a phone. Like everyone else has said this phone has a mind of its own and I can never send a normal text because my screen is aways jumping and it blinks all day long. I hate it. I cant even say all I have to say because its messing up as I type…ugh!!!!
This phone is the worst phone that i have ever had. They installed the new update and just like everyone else said it made it worse. Being that this is my third one its either give me a new one or bye bye verizon.
I got this cellphone in october now i can’t change it but they update my cellphone now is a little bit better.
I’ve had a Samsung Glyde since around late August 2008, and it’s been a POS since Day One. The random button pressing, slow touchscreen reaction, the list goes on.
Yesterday, March 19th, I went into the Verizon store after being fed up with the phone. I had NO IDEA that there was an update for the phone. Isn’t Verizon supposed to tell me this stuff? I mean, if they issued a stop-sale then they should at least inform their customers, who no doubt are pissed with the company.
After my phone being updated, it was better but still not perfect. I had the touch screen pressing its own buttons so I went to the Verizon store with my updated phone, furious.
It took me two hours at the Verizon store demanding the phone be replaced. They wouldn’t warranty the phone because it had been exposed to water (the indicators were pink) but that never affected the phone, it was just a bogus way for them to get out of replacing it.
Finally, after three customer service representatives and me demanding that I speak to a supervisor Verizon relented.
The new Glyde hasn’t malfunctioned in the few hours that I have had it. I like the phone okay, as I use it for only phone/text, but damn has it been frustrating. My iPod touch (nearly identical to the iPhone) has been flawless…a touchscreen can’t be that hard to perfect.
I got the glyde last summer. I like the phone, the touch screen and slide out keyboard. But my phone acts like it’s possessed! It’s sitting 2 ft away from me right now going from screen to screen on it’s own. It has so many problems. I didn’t realize until now reading this site that other people were having the same problems. I didn’t even know there was an upgrade! I don’t want to have to go through 4 glydes just for them to figure out that it’s never going to work. I like Verizon and I’ve been with them for forever. I’m going in tomorrow to talk to them, I would love for them to give me a new phone but it doesn’s sound like that is going to happen. I can’t take this phone anymore!
I have a memory card that has all of my pictures and videos on it and only have 10 messages total on my phone and it has restarted 7 times in the past 2 days. The software upgrade that Verizon is telling us “will help”, is a scam so that they don’t have to give us refunds or a new phone.
This phone is honestly a piece of shit. I loved it for the first couple of months but now after I’ve received the update on the software, things have only seemed to get worse… I just got off the phone with Verizon and they’re sending me a replacement… But after reading majority of these post I’m not even ecstatic about it anymore…
just got a brand new glyde, dont seem to be having any of these issues everyone else is having, only comlpaint i have is when the battery gets low the touch screen pretty much ceses to function and the fact that only factory wallpapers rotate is stupid but other than that this phone works good for me.

Me and Tanya are very confused because one of us has a Glyde and everything we have heard about this recall is different. Some say that it is being taken off the shelves for good and those who have the phone just have to deal. Others think that you can bring your Glyde to a Verizion store and have it replaced by an env2, but we’ve also heard you might get a Voyager. We also heard that the phone was recalled and then put back on the shelves. Another time we heard that it was never even recalled and it was all just a big old rumor! So me and Tanya are requesting a formal address from Verizion to tell us the truth and only the truth.
I’ve had two Glydes and three software updates, the latest in April, 2009.
It’s still possessed, randomly dialing folks and doing it’s own thing. It’s possession lite, all the horror but without the vomit.
I hate this phone. Verizon demands that I pay to get out of my contract. Fine. It’ll be the best money I every spent.
Question is, how do I ignore the urge to stomp the sh1t out of it in front of other customers when I’m free at last?
I am so glad to see that I am not the only one having problems with this phone. I’ve had the Glyde since Sept. ‘08, and I too have had problems with this phone, pretty much since day one (but I thought it was just me learning on a new phone). Why is it that Verizon makes no attempt to alert their customers to an update? I will be going in today demanding that they do something to make it right.
This phone is a freaking piece of shit. Update doesn’t work, I hit one button on the screen and it randomly hits one on the opposite side and randomly calls people because of this and gets into extra applications like VZ Navigator which costs extra $$$$ because I don’t have a subscription. It’s gotten to the point now that I don’t even turn it on because its too much of a pain in the ass, can’t text message and can’t call people.
I hate this phone, wouldn’t recommend it to anyone. I would rather have a cell from the mid-90’s than have this piece of shit for another day.
Anyone know much about class action lawsuits? I’m on my third phone. Crappiest phone I’ve ever had. Verizon refuses to give me another model that works. I’m stuck with them for 2 years. This will be my last phone/ contract with Verizon.
I hate this phone. i got it to day . i swiched over from my voyager thinking this phone was going to be better. the damn phone wont even vibrate.
I bought an iPhone a couple weeks ago after ‘dealing’ with my Glyde for several months. I don’t care what Verizon charges for the cancelation or the $200 I spent on the iPhone. The new phone has changed my life forever and I hope Verizon or Samsung does something about the Glyde. It is a true disapointment that they are even still selling them. Go out and get an iPhone, you will NOT be disappointed.
I have talked to Verizon and they said that the phone is working great now? I get a phone tomorrow and I really want the glyde. Do I get it or not ?
My software update has done nothing for me. I want to break my phone in half all the time.
The weird thing is, everyone is complaing about verizon not getting them a new phone but they say they will if they “bring it back” or whatever. I wonder has anyone actually gotten a differnt phone? I’m fed up with my glyde I hate it.
