Samsung Glyde problems fixed with software update

Just a few days ago, Verizon pulled the brakes on the Samsung Glyde stopping all sales and pulling units off the shelves for unspecified issues (we think they were turning into evil Transformers, but that’s just us). Whatever the issues were – whether it was the screen, new bugs or network issues, it has all been resolved by a simple software update. It seems like a complete halt of sales was pretty drastic because the Glyde was back in business in no time after the halt of sales was called. So if you have the Glyde and are suffering from bugs and general problems with the phone, your software update is on the way some time this week.

    I got the glyde in june and loved it. after a month i had problems with the touch screen, i went to verizon last month and got a new one mailed. later that day i had to go back because it was turning off on me. they gave me a new battery and 2 weeks later it was turning off more than 6 times a day. i just came back from verizon thinking that i was going to be getting a completly different phone WITHOUT touch screen and they gave me the same one with a new software which has a new look. hopefully this will work.

    okay, i am on my fourth glyde. its ridiculous. has anyone else had a problem charging it? i will charge it all night, and then the next day in about two hours, it will die. i have gotten a completely new phone, charger, and battery and its still doing it! what is going on?!

    You guys have to realize that the Glyde is like a mini computer. When left on for days, weeks, etc., it starts to fault, but usually a quick turn-off/turn-back-on will fix the problem. A lot of people don’t realize that their phone has most likely been on for long, long periods of time, just recharged to full capacity over night or whenever.

    This phone is absolutely horrible. Just like all the other posts on this site I have the same issues. Screen freezes, calls people in my contact list, you press one menu item it goes to another. I have had the phone since late August and I swear I feel like its haunted!! Going to Verizon today! I wish I would have read some of these reviews before gtting it. Thank goodness it was free…

    I have the Glyde as well as everyone else.. I don’t think its verizon’s fault for this phone, because LG makes an EXCELLENT touch screen. I just don’t think Samsung did a very good job. I wish I would of gotten something else instead. But I know, going to Verizon is absolutely useless because they won’t give me a different phone, and why would I want a refurb phone that someone else turned because it had problems.. so support “fixed” it by putting a bandaid over it. It looks very nice, and playing with it in the store.. you don’t notice any of the problems. No software update will do anything.. The phone is crap.

    this phone is horrible. once i got the software update yesterday and for the first ten minutes i was excited and then the phone goes hay wire again. But this time its worse than before. To send texts i have to sometimes save them to drafts because the button to the left never works ands it easier to press options and use numbers instead of touchin the screen. i cant even change my settings. i have a lock on my phone and i need to type in my password every time i turn it on unfortunately it takes me forever to put in the code cause the done button never works and instead it hits back and erases the code. god forbid i have an emergency. im gonna call tomorrow and see what happens.

    I HAVE HAD THE GLYDE SINCE LATE AUGUST IVE HAD THREE PHONES AND 2 SOFTWARE UPDATES…..PIECE OF SHYT!!!!!! I HATE IT I LOVE VERIZON BUT THE WORSE PHONE EVER ON THE BEST NETWORK….HOW IN THE HELL DID THEY MANAGE THAT! IF ANYONE HAS GOTTEN A NEW PHONE WHICH ONE DID VERIZON GIVE U?

    all I can say is THANK GOD I found this site. I really thought it was just me. I got my phone in October and within a month i thought it was possessed pressing its own buttons and even freezing up and humming. I hate hate hate hate hate it. I am definitely going to try to relace it but it sounds like I might not be able to. geesh….think i will jsut have to go back to my old cell.

    Well, I have this phone, and I haven’t had it for long, but all these problems, I haven’t had one of them. The touch screen is great, everything is fine. But I hate all the stuff on it, like black menus, so I may still go get the update, but I can’t decide if that is a bad idea, because people say it makes the phone suck… /: i got a really really good phone,and i dont wanna ruin it.

    if your gylde is “randomly pushing buttons” that you didnt press turn down the sensitivity level for the touch screen to low, i did and not mine doesnt do anything at all that its not suppost to. just turn down the sensitivity and you’ll be fine

    …Still, I am also getting really fed up with the phone. I used to be fine. Got mine back in June and didn’t start having problems until September. Even then, they were dealable. It’d turn itself of occasionally and the touch screen would go wack… but it’d be fine if I turned it off and then back on.
    Recently, however, it doesnt even help to restart my phone. It never turns itself off anymore, but the screen just does whatever it wants. I get so frustrated sending texts and trying to call people.

    Turning down the sensitivity is a brilliant idea, but I’ll still probably bring it in tomorrow and talk to someone. I’m pretty tolerant, though…there really isn’t a good excuse for them to have sold me a phone with these problems.

    i got this phone for xmas and it is great. Mine came with the software update and it works fine. The screen was being crappy but just turn down the sensitivity. Also it depends on how you touch it. It will read the first part of your finger that touches it. Just make sure you are centered on the button you want. … Oh and i love the mobile web. In fact, im using my phone to post this right now!

    i got this phone for my birthday in july and for about a week it was the greatest phone ive ever had untill about a week the touch screen has a sweet spot on the bottom right corner amd everytime i try to push any part of the touch screen thats not the bottom right it hits the bottom right. this phone is the worst one samsung has ever produced. i want to find the person who made it and hurt them.

    Oh my god…i have had the glyde since mid september and it is a piece of shit. I just got off the phone with verizon and all they said they can do is give me a new glyde for free…and i DON’T want that shit. I’m going in to the verizon store…hopefully i can work something out with someone there

    I purchased my Glyde back in June and have been regretting it ever since. I have had the so called ’software upgrade’ performed and have to believe that it was a joke.
    I’ve contacted Verizon on several occassions and the only help they could offer was to give me a 25% discount off another phone (retail prices in the range of $400!). This phone has basically ruined my life. I’ve stopped calling my friends because it takes forever to make a call. I sit home alone because no one calls me anymore. Even if someone calls, I usually end up tapping the answer button and the phone eventually goes to voicemail, leaving me to attempt to call them back. Argh!. Someone please help me. Verizon…I have been a loyal customer since 1997. You are about to be replaced with an iPhone. Who’s going to give me my life back?

    Ahhhh. I’m reallly fed up with this phone!!! No point in telling you guys whats wrong with it, cause lal my problems are already posted. My mom just went to verizon today,im on my 3rd glyde and now im getting an update. I dont want that i want a new phone!!! Im seriously gonna go back to my old little dingy flip phone for all i care right now. I use to be able to text something in 30 seconds now its like a whole hour for me to send something, and thats if it doesnt go into my drafts. anyways well see what happens when i have my “updated” SOFTWARE.. NOT HARDWARE phone in a bitt.

    What the hell is all your guys’ problems? My Glyde’s touch screen sucked at first then I got the update and it’s fine. Sometimes it doesn’t respond but otherwise it’s great. I just wish I could listen to music and use the phone at the same time.

    Oh soo excited i was cause with the update it worked perfectly! i actually was able to use the screen rather then use keyboard for everything. Well i had jsut texted friend about the phone, so happy. blah blah blah. andd Its back to its stupid little tricks it wants to do!!!!!1 ahhhhh i hate it!!!!!!!!!! there is no more blue boc, thank god. but Omggg. Ill give it a weeek. if not going back and demanding a FREE NEW (not refurbished) PHONE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!1

    i had that problem too. the update actually DOES NOT WORK, but if u show that the phone does whatever it wants with the touch screen tehy will give u a NEW GLYDE that is already updated when it was first made. The newer glydes are actulaly much better with the touch screen

    so, i got the new update just yesterday. my phone had all of the problems yall had when i got mine in august. I got t he software update, and its all the same. I hate the new interface (i liked the blue box!!!) If this update was on the phone when i went to go pick one out, i wouldnt have gotten it. But, im still having the same issues as yall now too. I really wish verizon would do something to make us all happy…lets sue samsung. I want to be the new CEO!!!

    I was having these same problems with the touch screen. Sometimes even if i had the phone sitting on my desk and not touching it, it would randomly start opening menus and selecting different buttons.

    I have tried changing over all the media to the memory card inside instead of the phone’s onboard memory and lowering the touch sensitivity settings. So far this has helped considerably.

    For some reason people still want this phone though. I would recommend selling this phone on ebay or craigslist if you really dont like it anymore, before everyone realizes there are much better phones out there.

    I’m on my third glyde. This one has the new software, and it still has problems. The screen hasnt freaked out as bad as the other one’s (i will not hold my breath), but it freezes when I try to recieve messages and I have to turn it off and back on. This phone is awful!!
