Samsung Glyde problems fixed with software update
Just a few days ago, Verizon pulled the brakes on the Samsung Glyde stopping all sales and pulling units off the shelves for unspecified issues (we think they were turning into evil Transformers, but that’s just us). Whatever the issues were – whether it was the screen, new bugs or network issues, it has all been resolved by a simple software update. It seems like a complete halt of sales was pretty drastic because the Glyde was back in business in no time after the halt of sales was called. So if you have the Glyde and are suffering from bugs and general problems with the phone, your software update is on the way some time this week.

What’s the count on the fixes for this, to date there only been 2 to date for the Instinct. Most are unhappy with the browser and/or no sync w/Outlook
The softwear upsate doesn’t help the touch screen doing whatever it wants all it helps is the reaction time when you text. and the calling quality is a little better.
The touch screen is the biggest problem with the phone. Of course when I took it to the Verizon store I was told that there was nothing wrong with my phone. I have several friends that are going through the same thing. The phone is crap.
The update did not help the problems with the screen doing what ever it wants and i am going to go to verizon and try and get a refund and a diiferent phone because it is a huge piece of crap.
I went in 2 days ago to get the firmware update. The new little things are cool like the blue box being gone and white menus instead of black, etc but my touchscreen is now worse than it was before I got the firmware upgrade. I’m gonna wait it out another week and if it doesnt get better I’m going back.
Yup I just went in today to get the new software. And like others, it’s now worse! It is really a shame too, cause the design of the phone and the setup is awesome.
But this update that was suppose to fix the worlds problems, actually made things worse.
So I’m headed right back to Verizon again tomorrow. There is no option left but a new phone. And I will not be paying for it…

THIS IS RIDICULOUS! i’ve had this phone for a few months now & alls it does is act up. when i wanna press one thing, it presses the other! i’ve been hearing about an udpate. but, as all these people said; “it just got worse” there’s no point in getting the update then. & it’s not like this phone was cheap or anything! so, really? i just want a new, FREE phone. ’cause this has gotta stop before i literally break my phone in half. oh, & another thing. one of my friends has the Voyager which is also a touchscreen. she told me her phone didnt have any problems. sooooo, what’s goin on!?
I have the glyde, and literally i hate this phone so much! When i first had it it did the hole ” push one button but it presses another” then i got it replaced with another and another im on my THIRD Glyde now and this third one is doing the same thing and it wasn’t like i got it two months ago i got it just a couple weeks so i don’t want to here about the hole Glyde problems fixed cause thats so not even true. i literally get fed up with this phone i want to throw it against a wall, its a piece of shit and needs to be abolished completely.

one of the problems with the touch screens is that you might have to many pictures or text messages on ittt.
get a memory card for all of these things.
i also have the gylde and i was told by the verizon people that this was the problem. it actually works if you delete old pictures.
but i still hate the phone in general. the voyager is the best touch screen!
well i got the glyde updated and it literrally fixed everything i hated about it, touch screen buttons for dialing are bigger and more responsive, i can scrol contacts like a rolodex so i dont have to scan my entire list or do a search for a number, i can use youtube.com now, and also menus look better. and the best thing , it doesnt unlock with one button you actually have to slide the lock button to anther to unlock it , this upgrade improved the phone by 100%
Another person here with an updated Glyde. I’ve barely used the phone and it’s completely shit the bed already. The screen does whatever it wants to, randomly selecting things when I’m not even touching it, even after deleting all my texts and pics. Either that or it freezes. Heaven forbid I should have to make a call, it’s about as easy as walking a damned tight rope.
I receieved the update formy Expensive ass phone and it did not get better. I read torii’s response about deleteing the pictures (which i think is bullshit) but it works i can easily navigate without it automatically selecting back or whatever is in the bottom right corner. I have a 4gig sd card in it filled all they way except a little room for pictures. Just set your phone to save pictures to Memory Card and i think we all should be good to go, However i am still going to get a new phone I.E VOYAGER.
I have the new updated software version of the glyde (my 3rd or 4th one) and it is horrible. I have friends who have gone into verizon and they have given them a different phone, but for some reason i keep getting the damn glyde back. I want to switch to something that actually works. This was not a cheap phone so i should be getting my moneys worth, but all i get is a piece o shit plastic phone. I like the look and sleekness of the phone, but it sucks. Verizon needs to perfect the touch screen before they con all of us into getting something that doesnt work the way it is supposed to. Like they said about deleting pictures- bullshit. I asked if i could pay the difference for a new phone, which only costs $47 total, not more. Verizon would be saving money, but they tell me i have to pay full retail, which is complete horse shit. I love verizon, but im sorry, this phone needs to be fixed or just give us all a completely different phone.
I have had the Glyde since July and I am going to agree with everyone else and say it is a POS for a phone. The touch screen is terrible and never cooperates with what you want to do. It does its own thing whenever it wants. I have had 4 Gyldes and am going to verizon today demanding for a completely different phone. 4 phones doesnt make any sense. I love verizon, but the glyde might be the nations worse phone ever to be invented.
I have the Glyde and been through both software upgrades including this new one.
The phone sucks and Verizon knows it.
They told me that if I bring it back one more time they’ll let me get a new phone (it will be the 4th time I take it back). I’m getting a new phone or getting out of the contract.

Well I have no problems with the Glyde. When I first got it I did. But after about 1 week with it everything was koo. I just dont like how the music player only repeats all songs. U cant choose one song u want to repeat. Unless u make a bunch of playlist with one song on every one then u can repeat that one song. But I do wanna get the Voyager I wish I could trade it in. lol

I have had the glyde since july when it first came out ever since then the screen does what it wants i tried going to the store they tell me its fine this phone blows dick its either they give me a new free one or bye bye contract this is the poorest excuse for a cell phone ever
I had my glyde updated with the new soft ware but its still acting like it has a mind of its own! I t just calls people in my recent call list. Then it’ll freeze and I have to take the battery out for a while. Its a real piece of junk!
This phone is horrible. Everywhere you read, the reviews sucks. They should really recall this phone. I’ve never had a problem with verizon before. I love verizon, I just hate this phone. The touch screen is not defective on just my phone, everyone I talk to has a problem with it. No matter what software update they do, it sucks…they need to come out with a whole different phone completely!
How about this for a defect? Going into your contact list to find that it has mysteriously disappeared: not once, but three times in the last 4 weeks. My first glyde the camera was broken. My second seems to have a ghost. Lets not even get into the issues with the touch screen freezing or bringing up programs randomly. Verizon won’t replace unless you’re on your third unit. This company has a rep of not giving a damn about their existing customer base. Can anyone say “class action lawsuit”
Well, to join everyone here that is complaining, I’ve been through 5 different Glydes and 2 Software updates since I first got the Phone on April 2. The last time I got the SOftware update, the phone is still crap. It clicks whatever it wants, It resets itself when I try to send texts, It Freezes all the time, and the screen doesn’t respond sometimes. It is so bad I am on a first name basis with the technician at Verizon and they keep telling me the software should do it. BOTTOM LINE – THE PHONE IS A PIECE OF S***!!!
I’ve had two glydes, and the most recent software update. The update is useless becuase it’s not a software problem–it’s a hardware problem. I am so sick and tired of the phone taking me random places, playing the “opposite game” with buttons and just buzzing whenever it feels likes it. The only time it ever works is when I am at Verizon trying to explain the problems. Ack!!!
