HTC Fuze returns to AT&T site

After a number of false alarms, it looks like the HTC Fuze has begun its entry into AT&T corner of the web. The handset has shown up on a rebate sheet that was posted to AT&T’s site. There’s not a ton of info to complement the appearence, but the presence of a model number, AT&T Tilt (HTC P4600), and activation requirements, $45 or $20 messaging plan + voice, hopefully means that a launch is immiment. That being said, we’re losing faith in the death star’s ability to reliably push new handsets out of door, especially given the Blackberry Bold debacle, so we wouldn’t hold our breath for a timely release.

As I said before, it’d be a miracle if they manage to release this before December.

Actually, we’ve been told it’ll release on the 11th.

Nothing official comes through our channels, of course. We only know when the phones actually show up. That being said, my unofficial guess is that it will be out by the third or fourth week in November as a Holiday introduction. AT&T would be shooting itself in the foot by not offering this before Christmas.

The rebate sheet does not call it a Tilt… the line states “HTC P4600 (Fuze)**”. The device listed above it is a Tilt.

BGR, why not get on the ball and use the AT&T FUZE picture? You know, the one without the number row, and blue instead of green colors on the keyboard????

I’ve been to my local AT&T store (West Hollywood, CA) each of the past two Sundays…October 26th and November 2nd. Each time the reps said they were aware of the device but had not received any official release date. They said it’s typical for them to not know until a day or so beforehand.

The same people that I got my bold from on saturday told me they would have 10 or so in stock in 2 weeks. Then they would continue to get more a few days later. So we’ll see what happens.

Forgot to mention, I played with it. One of the employees had one and I have to say, it’s freaking beautiful.

AT&T’s FUZE Forum has individuals “claiming” to have talked to stores on the EAST coast who have them in stock for 2morrow’s release date, along with the BOLD….

I would imagine they’d announce the device nation-wide, otherwise it would be a really lackluster PR campaign for a flagship phone. All that to say I hope that we on the WEST coast get the same love as everyone on the EAST coast!

Spoke to one corporate store here in Oregon and they are supposed to be receiving them in today with the Bolds for a release tomorrow. (fingers crossed)

I work for ATT in PA and we haven’t gotten any Fuze’s yet. It’s on our price sheet and I’ve personally played with a model given to our store SME after he went to a training on it. It’s also on our rebate forms and all intel points towards a release this week. We got Bolds today and I wouldn’t be surprised if we get the Fuze in a matter of days.

And if that means anything for national, i’ll be the first to say that we generally don’t get stuff early, the general rule for my store is we get screwed and get stuff late. So i would say it’s a pretty good chance Fuze is on the way!

Will the fuze have have push to talk?
Can the feature be used via Wi-Fi?
Newbie questions but that is what I am.

Any chance AT&T introduces the device in certain markets and then goes nationwide? I’m thinking along the lines of what they do with movies. Is this something carriers ever do?

Any chance (even 1%) that the screen tilts? If not, I’m sitting this one out.

    Nope, the screen doesn’t tilt…unless you force it… :)

It does have push to talk -
I think PTT runs through the network, not via WiFi

ON Saturday a corp store here in Atlanta told me the Fuze and Bold would be available in their store on Tuesday (11/4). I called today to check again and they said that’s still the plan. I’m still calling ahead.

Pushtotalk and WiFi are two separate features on this phone, and are not compatable with each other, i.e. PTT cannot be used on WiFi.

FYI, PTT is virtually useless on ATT. If you have family/friends/etc. on the ATT network, cell to cell calls are free. that loud beep with the PTT is just annoying to everyone around, anyway.
A download “fix” is available to disable the PTT button and convert it to a shortcut of your choosing - Just look for PTTfix. (Not sure if it will work for the Fuze, but it worked for my 8525.

Joshua? how was the Bold launch a debacle? Because AT&T waited until the phone was ready, and didn’t release it with a software build that would require them to recall it or put it on hold like we have seen elsewhere? I think they did us a favor with this one by making sure the device was completely baked.
