I live right here in Richmond where they are based and let me tell you they f*cked up bad. The past CEO fired all high paid talent in favor of numbers on paper looking as good as a dry aged filet, back fired and have dropped there stock from $29.00 two years ago to the miserable $0.21 it is today. This is only the beggining, chapter 11 is almost certain in 2009. I am happy this happend the public showed Corporate greed what happens when you pull a way too public Gordon Gecko move. F*ck you CC, Best Buy won me a long time ago and I live in CCs back yard. Don’t they know the color RED pisses people off…

Does anyone remember that Circuit City, just a few years ago, was the best performing company in Jim Collins’ book “Good to Great”? Obviously, Mr. Collins’ approach to management is worth some reconsideration given the fall of Circuit City. It would seem a new approach to management would be worth considering. I worked for circuit city in 2002-2004. They closed down the location I was working at in skokie illinois (chicago suburb) after just 4 years of opening.

OMG I lived in the ATL metro area for years. MOST of the stores they are closing are new or remodeled. This is REALLY depressing news. I feel so sorry for these people. The stores they are talking about closing in that area DO NOT overlap at all. Amazingly sad!!!

Yeah when I checked last night and saw that all 15 Phoenix locations were closing, my initial reaction was “oh that sucks” but then I realized in the two months I’ve lived here, I hadn’t seen a single Circuit City. Guess I never will.

I did actually like them better than Best Buy –just in a lesser of two evils sort of way.

I typically try to avoid CC like the plague after repeated bad service, but lately the deals (due to bad times for the company) have been too good to pass up, and I really appreciate the competition they provide against Best Buy. The really important thing here is the job loss, and another indicator of the state of our economy.

They are closing down my store location ‘city of Industry’ in california. I’m not relocating tho. Every1 was so bummed out at our meeting sunday morning. It was actually 1 of the greatest jobs I had. I’ll miss it.

I’m in Phoenix, they are closing every single store here. I guess that just leaves Frys and Best Buy now since CC and CompUSA have both left Phoenix now.

Seems to be in bigger metro areas where there’s a lot of store overlap. Small and mid-size cities that only had 1 store seem to be safe.

Hope they don’t close the store that they just rebuilt/relocated closer to my house this past summer. It was so fresh and clean, and it’d be a bummer to have to drive an extra 4 minutes to Best Buy.

Oh, how the mighty have fallen. I used to work for these guys so I feel a little sorrow for them but not much. They needed to make these drastic changes like yesterday. Time will tell if they can right this ship before collapse.
