Verizon: You don’t want that crappy G1!
Verizon knows best, right? First, they really didn’t think the iPhone 3G was good enough for you. You know, they said the signal wasn’t great, it was too expensive, and the iPhone insulted your mother behind your back. Well, apparently they’ve whipped a list of reasons why you don’t want a G1, either. By the looks of things, it looks like a total list of deal breakers! It doesn’t have stereo Bluetooth, no video capture, no audible GPS… if the device is missing all of those amazing and absolutely desirable features, then count us out! Right guys? If the list of “misses” weren’t good enough to convince you, just wait - there’s more!

Well, there is a touch screen and physical QWERTY keyboard and apparently opening the device to use the keyboard is just too cumbersome. We guess the Voyager, enV, enV(2), Glyde, XV6800, and other Verizon offerings are just so much easier. Also, you can only download songs via Wi-Fi and there are limitations to 3G downloads for music and such. Verizon lets you download all the songs you want over their network because, oh yeah, they don’t have a selection of Wi-Fi devices. But it’s not that important, right? Verizon also says that there is no MS Exchange sync, so don’t wait for the G1 even though the Exchange programs are in the works and ready to be released soon. You’re compulsive! Oh, and look, the Android OS is bad because it’s open source… Well, there you have it, guys. You should not buy the G1 because Verizon tells you so and we all know better than to ignore the big boys in red.

What do you want them to do? Praise the G1?

Not to knock TMO, with whom I like, but VZW is right on a few issues. 3G is my biggie. Email too. The others are questionable. And yeah, VZW was right about the iPhone too regarding 3G. AT&T’s 3G isn’t all that. Look at the problems they’ve had already.

Watching these cell networks bash each other is almost as much fun as watching the election coverage. Just as much fact distortion and posturing!
Obnoxious and expensive or not, VZW has the best coverage where I am by far, and I needs my corporate email, so I’m stuck with my BB 8830. (Until big red gets the Bold…..)

That’s ok, they don’t like my Tilt either.

Good. I’m glad to see the US carriers take jabs at one another. This is supposed to be a competitive market after all.
This is a lot better than when they conspire together and decide to charge their customers .20 per text message.
I encourage them to publicly publish eachother’s faults over TV, radio, online and print. Bring it on!!!!!

Verizon is just trying to be political like Barack Hussein Obama or McCain… talking trash about the competition… I’m sick of the election and now of Verizon for being that lame…

Well are these short comings or T-Mobile leaving the door open for the open source alliance to fill them in. I say yes as this is what the G1 is all about. Way to NOT get it Boy Genius

Ohh please there just mad unlike verizon with there crappy UI. Android is open platform OS. And there running on GSM technolgy witch 90% of the world uses. Witch means you can unlock it and used it anywhere in the world. Plus i believe the OS has unlimted potential rememeber this is the first of many devices coming out for Android and they will fix many of these minors errors. So Gayrizon stop hating you no wifi crippler.

@Marc - you sir are a proven idiot.
Firstly, please refer to the bright red banner on the comparison chart that says for internal use only. They are giving their reps rebuttals to customers who call in and speak to the G1.
Should they advise their reps that this is a great phone, fuck the storm and get it quick? I got an idea - why dont you put a engadget link on your website? if the storm is crap compared to the iphone, then you know what your articles are compared to those on the other site right? Surely you do

Why bother countering a product that isn’t selling? They’ll be lucky to hit 750K units this year, even with preorders. Even that awful Storm will do better than that, and even the original iPhone sold million units in 74 days despite average sales price north of $500, which is nearly 3x the price of the G1. Bring on the Storm.

verizon is going too far with thier mouth

Okay, Verizon seems to be contradicting themselves here by saying that 128mb is not enough space for applications when the blackberry storm is going to have that same amount of space for applications…
Doesn’t make very much sense.

PS: there is a link to the Engadget site under “Cool People” on the home page. ….
Engadget and boygenius are 2 very different sites , BGR is focused on the phones mostly and engadget is well….focused on gadget! now stop calling yourself “mangenius” I checked and there is no mangeniusreport.com … another wannabe.

@cmb - keep on sucking.. maybe you can answer the question of what you think Verizon should do?
Do you think they should put out a tv spot parising the phone and asking their clients to move over to AT&T and T-Mobile?

And what is wrong with Barack’s name being Hussein? So what? What is John McCain’s middle name? Did you say Sidney? Correct you are! Or SISSY like his fellow POWs called him. Or SONGBIRD for the way he gave up Military secrets for better treatment and special favors from the North Vietnamese!

Check it out and don’t be so afraid or resistant to someone because of his skin color. He seems to be a lot more educated than you which is one of the reasons he’s running for President!
