the Bold has a slightly better processor (100mhz difference),
However the 8900 has a better:…

media player (8900 has the advanced media player compared to bold’s standard blackberry media player)

size (8900 is smaller, thinner, and lighter)

camera (3.2MP compared to the bold’s 2.0MP)

screen resolution (HVGA+ 480×360P compared to the bold’s 480×320P)

Battery (S=14D/T=5.5H compared to the bold’s S=10D/T=4H)

memory (256MB onboard memory and 256MB flash w/SDHC capable up to 32GB compared to the bold’s 1GB onboard memory and only 128MB flash w/SD capable up to 8GB)

while the bold is a great BB, the 8900 is better!!!!!!!!

I asked for the curve 8900 for my upgrade, based mainly on size and it’s camera, over the bold prosumer and the new curve 8520(I think)?
Anyway they sent the bold by mistake, so I’m waiting for the next curve 8900 batch to come in, I haven’t even opened the bold box!!
Should I wait for the curve or keep the bold? this is my first BB.

the 8900 is awesome!!!!!!!, i wouldn’t rather have any other!!!!!!! sorry you had a bad experience with the Deathstar(At&t), verizon sucks too, fortunately i am not a customer of either, whew! lol

the G1 is problematic and filled with bugs, not to mention it does not have the quality, and radio quality of the Blackberry! 3G is not available in all areas, and obviously people in those areas, and those who have purchased or like the Blackberry 8900 are ok with the lack of 3G!!!, and prefer quality!!!!!!! No amount of apps the G1 has can make up for it being junk.lol

DON’T GET THE 8900!!! It’s HORRIBLE!!! It has a good still camera, good camera “flash”, and a fair video camera, but all of that stuff is useless if you can’t even use the thing– there are several problems, but the real deal-killer is the trackball, which, when it goes out (mine has gone out twice in less than 3 months despite cleaning my thumbs religiously when I get ready to use it) you can’t fix it yourself, and if you bring it in to an ATT Center, they will tell you they can’t repair it, and you’ll have to go through days of waiting (especially if it goes out on a weekend) until a refurbished unit is shipped to you, and then you have a few days to transfer the data and send the old one back– if you don’t send it back in time, they’ll charge you hundreds of dollars for a core charge.

Why would you need more than several days to transfer the data? In my case, if the charge port stops working, you can’t back up anything…

The earlier Blackberry… i think it was an 8310… had a trackball that had problems with suddenly malfunctioning, too, and the first time the trackball went out, it tied me up for days as I tried to get ready to send it back… only to find out that the trackball was something I could replace myself easily without any tools at all, but neither ATT or BlackBerry would let me know that. I was soooooo pissed. The next time it went out, I bought the trackball and little chrome ring for $15. at an independent repair shop and got it handled immediately, rather than get it handled for “free” under warranty and wait forever.

But ATT must be run by a bunch of sadists– rather than continue to use an easily replaceable trackball, they made it necessary to take the phone apart– the same independent shop that sold me the trackball for the old phone for $15. charged me nearly $50. to replace the trackball on the 8900 after only a few weeks, at which time I was fanatical about cleaning my thumbs each time before I used my trackball– and that still was not enough… it STILL screwed up today again!!!! DO NOT BUY THE 8900 UNLESS YOU’RE A MASOCHIST, OR DON’T MIND IF YOUR PHONE GOES OUT WITHOUT WARNING EVERY FEW DAYS!!!

ATT AND BLACKBERRY HAVE THE WORST IMAGINABLE PRODUCT SUPPORT!!!!!!!! If an independent shop can repair my phone in REAL TIME when it goes out, why can’t ATT?????

I’m sorry for your terrible education, it is sad there are so many ignorant people out there. This is made worse by corporate thought programming and advertising brand for mindshare. People follow the brand, programmed, ..like a machine or robot, believing the hype, and what they are told, and or following the group mindset/programming/thought patterns, removing the one true human characteristic/ability …FREEWILL!!!!!!!
The Curve 8900 is not ugly! …not at all!
…takes all kinds…to each their own…beauty in the eye of the beholder, not to mention if people bought them chances are they like they way they look! The battery & memory card are great and the screen and camera are excellent, if not exceptional, not to mention Blackberry has one of the best radio receivers(receives the signal) out there and with T-Mobile UMA(wifi calling), even better!
-forget Apple, the Iphone, the IPOD, and the deathstar!

Hey, i think the black berry is useless.
I mean … take a look at it, like most kids from now on generations has that ugly phone.
I say iPhone is way better, and the Ultimate mobile phones are too.

We used to have this phone, the battrey, the memory card, the camera qualities are the one we are very dissapointed of.

I want to see them two compared. There are thing better on both and its all in what you go for i lean toward the bb the screen is killer and camera feature. and the app store should be coming soon if only they had free ones and cheaper ones dont sure how good of an idea this is.

Weird, the phones released to the stores were great, no problems,…well except that with more crap on hers my friend’s for some reason has more available memory…weird, but then again the guy at the store did say her’s was better…LoL…both of us got new 8900’s at the same time, Feb.11, @ 9am!!! (and my B-day was the 14th so it was a wonderful B-day!:))

The 8900 is wonderful, however without a data plan the wifi only works for HotSpot(UMA)calling,
(which is fantastic!!!…excellent signal, great reception,… with unlimited HotSpot calling (for 9.99/mo), doesn’t count against your minutes!!!), and limited internet access.
So, if ya need access, a data plan will be necessary.

i ordered two of the 8900 curves to have unfortunately to have them both sent back for a new one both went defective after one week! i loved the features it had for the week that it lasted…lets see what happens whenever t-mobile decides to send the new one’s out.

Ok heres all u need to know. Dont be fooled by the OMG its good but it lacks 3G.
1. i get it, but its still better than any other phone
2. the EDGE isnt alll that bad.
3. It has the BEST SCREEN RESOLUTION i have EVER SEEN.
4. youtube is a little slow, but still works. just give it like 30 seconds
5. movies and games are awesome, but it comes with some john mayer crap lol

I’d really like to see the 8900 vs. G1, as my G1 has some tech issues, so I asked T-Mo if I could switch, and they said due to the problem with my G1, I could either get another G1, or if I wanted switch to the 8900. So before I go making a mistake I’ll regret for 2 years, I would like to see the two side-by-side.

I’m a non-tech person thinking about getting the Curve for its PDA uses but not web/multimedia/etc. Someone told me that without paying for data plans on T-mobile, that this should still work on wifi for free. Some other Tmobile folks said that was true of the older Curve but with this one, it won’t work, or will have “limited” internet access.

Anyone low-tech enough to have this phone and NOT have a data plan, and still try to get online with it?

Hoping you can help! I cannot figure out how to assign notification sounds to my emails/texts. I found where to get the ring tones, but it only asks if I want to assign that tone as a ring tone and if I hit ‘yes,’ it only applies to the incoming calls. THANKS!!
