Blackberry Bold makes an appearance on Best Buy website
More Bold news for those of you are anxiously waiting for RIM’s newest (though not so new globally) smartphone. The Bold has appeared on BestBuy.com and is going for a whopping $679.99 contract-free. Would any of you actually pay that? It’s likely going to cost less on AT&T without a contract, and of course only $299.99 with a 2-year inked deal. After doing some digging around, we’ve learned that some stores will likely be getting them in on the 29th at the soonest even though it popped up in their systems on October 26, the date we threw out there a few weeks ago. Over the weekend several of our tipsters told us the Bold had already landed in Best Buy stores, but it looks like not all locations received shipments and only few actually have floor demos. Still, if you can’t wait until November 4 you can probably snag one at your local Best Buy before week’s end!
Thanks to everyone who sent this in!

The Best Buy I work for already got theirs in on the 24th.

Some Best Buy locations already have stock, some don’t. Seems pretty inconsistent. But the best thing to do at this point is to call your local Best Buy and see of they are one of the ones who received them.

All Best Buys in the Las Vegas valley have told me they don’t anticipate getting them for a week to 10 days at the EARLIEST.
Sounds like a pre-written line, but hey, just passing it along as I received it.

Insane. What’s the point? Spend $700 to…get it on AT&T, where you can buy it for $299 in just over a week? Simply insane.

I’ve noticed that, at least with Sprint phones, the price is increased significantly over the Sprint retail non-contract price. BB is just ripping off the customer.

What a BARGAIN, $700 to use a cool phone on the worst network! Almost sounds like that other phone… umm I forget…ohh the IPHONE.. haha..
Hope all you AT&T users have a backup phone on a different carrier to use since the 3g Bold should shut the whole network down.

The most delayed launch for a device EVER!!
And that’s $299 for a new 2-year contract. And ppl will still buy this device! At $199 it woulda been an awesome release. At $299…hmmmm…

What does ATT have to do with the fact that Obama sucks?
At $299 they are just redistributing your income to those who can’t afford them so they can buy a Razr for $1. The Obama Marxist way.

Now for more misplaced political commentary on the Blackberry Bold post on the gadget blog…
The Bold and the Storm will both quality, expensive devices be great phones and very similar with one having an option for Wi-Fi and other a touchscreen. Both on the two biggest and best networks in America. You’d expect to pay more, stuff isn’t free.
Kind of like the Presidential candidates who BOTH voted to nationalize (Bailout=Government investment=Government stake/ownership=Socialism) banks, brokerage house, insurance firms and other various financial instruments. With the traditional heart of economies manufacturing and certain industries (automobile, airline) possibly heading into a similar fate. The American economy isn’t free, someone has to pay for billions a month.
But with all that rambling needed just to have a competent political conversation, maybe we should just stay on the topic…

BestBuy is notorious for inflating non-contract handsets to make the subsidized price look that much better. And they price match so the $679 is nothing more than marketing, as it will be cheaper elsewhere, ATnT

We will have Obama in office and I will have my brand new Blackberry Bold in my hands. I mean if John McClane dies and leaves Palin in office we are fucked. The only good thing she is good for is giving us American’s something to look at while we whack off.

The Bold is a sweet phone, but $700 bucks? Sounds like Best Buy is just trying to suck every last penny out of the early adopters.

All Los Angeles Best Buys are a no go for the Bold. A few stores say they should be getting theirs in a day or two some others say November 4th. So go figure. By the time it does finally arrive no one will give a sh*t.

I looked it up in the systems - the Bold is $599 without a contract at AT&T corporate stores.

i was so excited when i saw it on the website this morning, that after class i went straight to the store near my house and i got my friends hands on experience with the floor model… it was a nonworking model but it was still pretty exciting! i also talked to one of the the guys there and it seems that the story of why they have the bold so early is because rim mistook the real att dealers with them.. so they wont really have the bold in stock till the 4th
