AT&T BlackBerry Bolds in stock at Best Buy, go on sale tomorrow?

We’ve got a bunch of tips on this so we’re going to run with it. Just a word of caution? We haven’t confirmed this ourselves yet, but we have ever reason to believe our ever-faithful tipsters. If they are correct, various Best Buy locations have already started receiving shipments of AT&T BlackBerry Bolds and they are allowed to start selling them tomorrow. We even heard demo models are out on the floor at some stores. Now for pricing… We’re told the Bolds are going for $349 with a 2-year agreement at Best Buy (?) and that the full retail pricing is $679.99. Some stores will only sell them at no-commitment pricing it seems. If you’re in the tri-state area, chances are you’re feeling some pretty heavy winds, but that’s not going to hold you back from setting up shop at your local Best Buy and braving it out until the morning is it?

Thanks, to everyone who hit us up!

They had the dummy Bold at Best Buy in Georgetown, Texas. I didn’t ask if they had any in stock, though. The keyboard felt kinda cramped if you ask me. Seems there are other phones out that have keyboards that are better than the Bold’s. Several Verizon phones at Best Buy had easier to use keyboards, like the Env 2 for example. The Blackberry Curve’s keyboard is even better than the Bold’s in my short time playing with them at the store, I found. I have never had a Blackberry and I’m not sure if I could leave my iPhone for one. I am pretty sure at this point that I can type much faster on the iPhone’s keyboard though. I’ll wait until they release it and then try it out at the store, first.

I called a few Bestbuy stores in southern Cali and none of them have the phone in stock. However, if you check the BestBuy weekly add they have it listed there starting Oct 26 – Nov 22 bold will be on sale for 399 with a new contract 419 if you upgrade to a new contract and 659 retail price.

One more thing.. I spoke with the sales person at the department asking why they were advertising if they did not have it and was told that they would recieve it sometime this week before they print out a new add.

Is it me or do I notice on the tags it states $349.99 with Geek Squad Email setup and another price stating $299.99. Is the Setup mandatory? I am looking at pics from other users.

No Bolds in SoCal, according to the Best Buy management in Pasadena. I’m fine with Nov. 4, but earlier is always better, right?

Once again BGR and their “ninjas” have come up with a another bogus reported release date to generate advertising revenue. Hasn’t anyone else seen this pattern?

@at&t monkey says, “as if they created this rumor” Hey! Guess what? They posted it, they did create it!

Wish they would just quit wasting our time with all this crap news.

Did anyone consider that BBuy jumped the gun on this one? After all, they were the ones who ran the ad, not BG – not ATT.

    To Duvi:

The $349.99 price is with the Crap Squad Email Setup. Bestbuy gets away with murder charging an arm and a leg setting up email ($50 bucks I guess), pairing bluetooth headsets ($15), and importing contacts ($10) – Everything AT&T will do FREE!!!

So do yourself and everone else a favor and dont buy from bestbuy. Since they will charge you an arm and a leg for free services.

Its going to be comical when AT&T users start using their Bolds, they should bring the network to a complete HALT.

I wouldn’t be suprised if Best Buy gets the bold and majority of the inventory over AT&T stores. Why? Again working for AT&T on the national retail side, it is known internally that COR is going downhill and national retail is booming at an alarming rate.

Here’s some numbers to play with..

My manager who takes care of south bay area and covers all Best Buy, walmart, costco, frys. His quota is around 3000 activations. Here there are Directers at AT&T, not district managers or store managers but Directors, who has a quota of 2500-3000 adds!
COR is slipping and its national retail that’s picking up the slack. That is the reason why majority of iphone inventory was shifted to Best Buy and also reason why a lot of AT&T stores are closing its doors.

Also regardless of whether Best Buy sells it over the COR locations doesn’t matter AT&T still gets adds!

This question is for everyone who is blaming BG. DID YOU PEOPLE NOT READ MY EARLIER POST? THERE IS A LINK TO THE BESTBUY WEEKLY AD STATING THAT THEY WILL HAVE THE BOLD STARTING OCT 26 – NOV 22 AT SPECIFIC PRICES. Stop blaming BG. BG YOU ROCK.

After reading this post, stop by the Best Buy on 86th and Lexington in New York City. They had the demo model up, but when I asked the guy if they were in stock, he said not yet. I asked him when, he said they would be selling them on October 30th. So while I was gonna wait for November 4th, if it comes out on October 30th at Best Buy, I will be able to get it cheaper.

That Best Buy had it as a upgrade for existing for $349.99 and since I’m a Rewards Zone member, with that 20% off, would bring it to $279.99, cheaper than the AT&T 299.99

The ATT store person i spoke with today (who i have been hounding about the BBB for many, many weeks) stuck to the 11/4 release date at the ATT store, and the $299 upgrade price….BUT said there’d be a $100 mail in rebate. Remains to be seen, but that’s what she said.

Best Buy right across the highway also had dummy on the floor but no stock and no firm date. quoted $349 upgrade price and said they would honor the Reward Zone deal.

The dummy bold was pretty cool….the new metalized perimeter case will match my new unibody mac book nicely :-)

beandoc: Yes you can refuse setup.

yee: In your area mabye. In mine, the indirect (national retail) cannot surpass one store in sales in a month and that is all of them combined. Each one that we check does less activations than one rep at my store. (I work for COR, and we have access to check not only all of our stores sales but also indirect). So can I believe that the bestbuys and walmarts of the world will replace us, um no.

@ mark h: so does that mean the bold will be 199.99 after we get our mail in rebate or is it 299.99 with the mail in rebate already priced in?

    @ AndGuz

COR = Company Owned Retail. basically att direct stores

    @PJ

where are you located? im here in the bay area, ca. National Retail is coming up and mainly started out there. i never said national retail will replace COR. but the national retail team here is doing so well and have been doing so well that we have directors from other markets trying to copy and deploy our stratgies. my old RAM moved out to ATL to build a team out there to get things rollin. if your National Retail team only has RAEs and no NRFRs yet, then the team isnt a big team yet and still young.
