Sprint makes HTC Touch Pro official, coming October 26th
Ask politely and ye shall receive. Sprint and HTC have finally taken the wraps off the worst kept secret this side of the BlackBerry Storm. The HTC Touch Pro has been officially launched, with limited availability through "select national retailers" beginning this upcoming Monday, October 26th. The rest of us will have to wait until November 2nd, when Sprint promises widescale availability through all retailer and online channels, but a solid date is better than nothing. The Touch Pro will run you $299 after a 2-year contract, assuming you’re subscribed to some flavor of everything plan or a $25 data add-on package. Not the cheapest handset around, but for the Windows Mobile faithful tethered to a Sprint contract, there’s really no other alternative.
That’s great and all, but what about the Touch Pro (Fuze) coming to AT&T? Wasn’t that supposed to hit on the 23rd?
Oct 26th is a Sunday. I know this because my birthday is Monday the 27th.

Would I be right in assuming that Sprint is going to gimp this phone and not support MMS, just like the rest of their smartphones?
There seems to be a lack of enthusiasm when you say there’s no other alternative.
Last I checked, this was a damn good phone.
@ Orga…I take it you’re new here. When you’re on this site you have to expect that kind of AT&T/iPhone fanboy attitude…this is a great phone and I’m not even on Sprint, lol.
The 26th is my FORTY-NINTH birthday. My Tilt will be retired around the fourth of November or whenever my local AT&T store gets them in stock.
I’m up for a renewal, and this would be a good birthday present for myself. The only think about the “fuze” I don’t like will be the lack of a tilt screen, which I have gotten use to.

I’ve had Sprint since ‘99, and has been actually a very good experience. When I get out of the MPLS metro area, and into ND, SD, WI, MI, and IA, my reception has been fabulous. Sprint and Verizon I think are the way to go for this area. ATT has been a big Fail for the same area. Our company had ATT, but they always had large areas of no service.

I try to keep it short and sweet.
I have Verizon in my office. My sales exec. has Sprint. Her phone doesn’t ring. Mine does.
When we’re on the road, her phone breaks up. She borrows mine. She’s had various phones, so we can’t hit up the phone for the blame.
People are jumping ship when it comes to Sprint by the droves each quarter. I think they have the best plans out there when it comes to unlimited usage, but it’s useless when you can’t always get the calls.
Gee Bluehorseshoe, that was some awesome detective work on the reception-perhaps no one ever explained the way that CDMA worked. It is not impossible, but highly unlikely that you and your co-worker are using the same freaking transponder (or same “tower”). In other words, it is highly likely that the problem is unique and not network related, Capt. Fanboy VZ. BTW, I own VZ stock and they’re a fine product, but the reason Sprint was losing customers was customer service and NOT really any network problems-ask any Sprint employee if you know one. At this point, they have a completely different customer service model and are doing a lot better than one year ago and not “bleeding” out their base of customers at nearly the rate you are thinking about.

I have sprint but a crappy phone that doesn’t work and sprint won’t do anything about. the plans are great and the services are pretty good. but the lies and broken promise is what I can’t stand.
don’t sprint and verizon use some of the same towers if u can’t pickup a sprint tower it will pickup a verizon tower. some phone you can set it to pick up the strongest signals

Obviously you haven’t worked in the technical arena. I’d be surprised if you even knew what CDMA stands for. As for the loads of people leaving Sprint, it’s both crappy customer service and phone reception. Ask any Sprint employee why people are leaving because it isn’t the network? LOL…most of the people I speak to that have left or going to leave say it’s because of both the network and customer service. Usually it’s the network that drives them to the point of dealing with the crappy customer service. Bleeding customer base? Go check out last quarters numbers. And the one before that, and before that, etc. Follow the bouncing ball if you can. VZW fanboy? Got VZW and TMO. Gotta say VZW works the best, but TMO is my fave.

CAN YOU PLEASE TELL ME MORE ABOUT CDMA. TELL ME WHY VERIZON SO MUCH BETTER THAN SPRINT. AND WILL SPRINT EVER USE VERIZONS TOWERS
Bluehorse, I actually due work in the technical side of things, and obviously you do not. Perhaps you think that companies actually own the towers they use, which of course-they do not. Each carrier may have more coverage in a given market and obviously use some but not all of the code division multiple access transponders. But, the kicker is, whose work with whose and what frequencies are the on and what resonance? I am sure being the expert you are you can tell me why some Sprint and Verizon areas are shared and others are not. What about Metro, IPCS and others? I am sure that you know the answers to all of these things and have delved deep into the commercial aspects of things? Perhaps you should look at who leases bandwidth, particularly EVDO from local market subsidies/carriers (and BOTH do) and see who has the larger footprint and market base? I’m sure your expert analysis will be far superior to my years of knowledge. Don’t assume that someone with a different point of view is foolish without knowing all the facts yourself.
