Oprah’s favorite new gadget is confirmed to be the Amazon Kindle

oprah kindle

Yeah we know this post sounds like something you might read at “People Magazine” but it does have some pretty serious gadget implications, so read on. If you don’t watch daytime TV, then you probably don’t know that Oprah has been hyping her October 24th show, during which she will announce her favorite gadget, like there is no tomorrow. Teaser videos are on her show’s website and on the front page of Amazon’s website. If you consider the fact that Oprah is the leader of the world’s biggest book club, it isn’t too hard to deduce that her favorite gadget just might be the Amazon Kindle. It also helps if you look at the source code of the XML file on her website and see that the keywords for Friday’s show include:

Oprah Fridays Live, gadget, favorite things, favorite new gadget, kindle, kindel, kindle device, amazon.com, edgar sawtelle, obc, oprah’s book club, Cristina Ferrare, Mattie Stepanek, money, economy, savings, dollars, recession, cooking, meals for less,

Cha-ching, can you hear the sound of Amazon’s virtual cash registers ringing up infinitive sales? The show will air on Friday, so if you want an Amazon Kindle, better buy one now. Who knows what will happen when the Oprah nation descends upon Amazon tomorrow. You have been duly warned.

That sounds so sad that the Kindle will be backordered for so long after tomorrow’s show, yet it’ll be so true.

Unless Amazon’s prepared with an overstock. Still–judging from her popularity, one should definitely get a Kindle YESTERDAY.

One rumor mill was even saying Oprah would be rocking the Kindle 2.0 today. pure and utter speculation, though.

So now that Oprah has announced her pick for electronic gadget, can we expect her to never showcase another opposing electronic gadget on her show now? She is a racist ya know…

lolol @ Jim…I’m sure she’ll show other gadgets but the Kindle’s days of being in stock are over as of this post. Opera has more fanboys/fangirls than all of Jobs Co. put together so Amazon is probably going to be shut down for the weekend.

Anyone heard of this item before Oprah?
Clever that she shows this to the world before Christmas……

    Wireless Access with Whispernet™

Whispernet utilizes Amazon’s optimized technology plus SPRINT’s national high-speed (EVDO) data network to enable you to wirelessly search, discover, download, and read content on the go.

Unlike WiFi, you don’t have to find a hotspot. Amazon pays for Kindle’s wireless connectivity so you will never see a monthly wireless bill for shopping the Kindle Store. There is no wireless setup—you are ready to shop, purchase and read right out of the box.

Note: There is no wireless coverage available currently on SPRINT’s data network for Kindle in Montana and Alaska.

Well now it’s official. The Oprah site has posted actual links to the Kindle and you can get $50 off the purchase price of a Kindle by typing OPRAHWINFREY in the checkout pipeline at Amazon (through November 1st). I bet that’ll move some units!

Sorry you had to get a code from the Oprah site (which was “OPRAHWINFREY” by the way, without the quotes) and plug it in during the checkout process. I remember I entered it in a box that was for “coupon” codes. It worked and I got the $50 discount.

If Oprah told her devoted followers to jump off a bridge, they would be dumb enough to do it. I don’t buy books that she recommends, I don’t have to vote for someone she endorses, because she does not speak for me.
