BlackBerry Storm hitting Best Buy November 16th?

To be fair, that’s what looks to be the in-stock date, not the street date as we’re told. We got our hands on a print out of a Best Buy product sheet which clearly shows the BlackBerry Storm’s store in-stock date. Suspiciously there’s no street date on the print out we got, but let’s be honest here, this is a RIM product. They determine release dates after a highly scientific game of drunken darts. In all seriousness, we did ring up Best Buy and confirmed that this information in actually in their system. We’d hedge our bets on a Storm release just before Thanksgiving. Anyone want to chime in?

That sounds about right for an “in-stock date,” but there is no way the phone will be “released” until after the 20th.
The “FIRST LOOK, FIRST TOUCH,” events don’t even end until the 20th and how could you have a “First look, First touch” event with the phone being released to the general public.
I honestly believe the phone will be out very end of Nov, maybe beginning of Dec.

A lot of sites are saying Nov 9-13th for the release.
I know someone that works for the mobile training for BestBuy. I am trying to find out from them when it is going to be released.

Yea it’ll definitely be out before Thanksgiving since the First Look First Touch events end on the 20th and it arrives at Best Buy on the 16th. And Chuck Bass??? wtf is this, Gossip Girl? lol

Release date is confirmed to be NOV. 15, 2008 trust me 100% it will be available in vzw stores on that saturday!!! Orig date was 11/9/08 put was pushed back to the 15th! Check store hours this week at vzw stores and they will be open 1 hr early and close 1 hr late.

Okay, so I had just a VZW rep in my store and they said that it SHOULD be on all our ordering sites Nov. 2nd (didn’t say a release date though) and that they are going to do a VZW wide release (aka: it will be available on the web site, at the corporate stores, and at the indirect agents the same day).
I’m soooo confused but dear god I hope he was right.

I have a few question for you guys.
1) Do you think Verizon will change the plans for the phone? I have a BB now and I have paying about 29.00 a month.
2) They just sent me a new curve for a replacement for the pearl2 since they replaced it 3 times already. Do you think I should put it on Ebay and buy the Storm instead?

I love my iPhone, but I hate the AT&T network. I’m seriously considering making the move back to Verizon when this phone gets released.

I have a Tilt (after being on Verizon for 4 years) and hate the AT&T network too. My wife’s iPhone gets even worse reception (and this is in LA, not in some small town). I wish there was a decent WinMo phone on Verizon, and I wish BBs let you show your appointments on the home screen.
I think I’ll try out the Storm when it hits Verizon for the 30 day trial just to see what it’s about, but then it will be back to AT&T until Verizon really steps up their smartphone game.

BBs do let you display appointments on the home screen. You just need a “today” theme, so that shouldn’t keep you away from a blackberry.

The letter above is from a bestbuy in portland maine at the Maine Mall. I know when I bought my dare at the Maine Mall Verizon BestBuy didn’t get it for 2-3 weeks after the Maine Mall Verizon store did.

those first-touch events that end on the 20th are a scam. Do a whois lookup on the domain and you will see that it is some reseller schmo in Ohio who is collecting lots of email addresses from people stupid enough to believe that the crappy vzwsolutions site is actually a verizon corporate site. Verizon’s real site is crappy in a much more professional way.
