    @ Andy:
Most of its just a fad since the release of the iphone.
However, I lilke the idea of a “hybrid” device, because there are times at which a touchscreen is easier to navigate and do things on, mostly web browsing and multimedia. However, I still need a physical keypad and navigational presence.
Just don’t do anything like the g1 or htc’s or others where I have a “hidden keyboard” that I have to move the screen to use.

Why do people get so pumped up over touchscreens? Am i the only one that find them impossible to use?
    andy, Oct 17, 2008 @ 12:52 pm

andy, full touch screens are a little more difficult to type on but some are willing to give up a little ease of use for the benefits of a wide screen for web, document editing, videos, etc.

For keyboard purists (heavy typers) they will like a hybrid device with touch and keyboard. I thought the Palm was great for this reason. The OS was sub-par but the ability to touch the screen to place a cursor, click on a web link or select an app was great.

RIM HAS released the Bold people.
If you want the Bold so damn bad, get an unlocked one and quit your bitching.

I am only interested in 3G Blackberry’s anymore. Bold will be my first. The Curve II…is that EDGE-only??? And the Storm, does it have the U.S. 3G frequencies??

Danny, of course it is a photoshopped image, that much should be obvious. As grainy as looks, it must be a 1940s B-movie era image. :)

No one knows what it (the Magnum) will look like yet.

Maybe I’m crazy, but the picture here:
    http://www.blackberrynews.com/2008/10/17/new-blackberry-magnum/

looks fake. I mean, the DEVICE looks fake. The whole thing looks bent, the keyboard is slightly off to the right, the transition of the shadow/light is inconsistent, and it looks like there’s a keyboard from a Bold peeking out from the left side of the display (look carefully).

Would love to see an actual photo of the device.

Again, maybe I’m wrong, but it looks like a cobbled together image to me.

Yeah, I’m an idiot. Ignore my post. I see that it’s all speculation (the image).

is it me or is Q4 of 2009 awfully close to potential LTE rollouts? I’m just saying that if your willing to wait 1 year now for HSDPA, wouldn’t 1 year at that point for an LTE device be worth it?

Okay, people. Why is everyone blaming RIM for the BOLD not being released in the U.S. The BB BOLD has been released all over the World, except in the U.S. And as everyone knows, AT&T is the carrier for the BOLD.

    SO BLAME AT&T!!!

Could it be that AT&T’s iPhone exclusivity might, just might, have something to do with the hold-up of the BB BOLD?

    SO COMPLAIN TO AT&T!!!

I just reviewed the european version and there is indeed WiFi available. Does anybody think there might be the possibility to unlock the BB storm very soon in order to add wifi capability? That would definitely make the storm a strong rival to the Iphone then!

jacksplat, you have a good point. By Q4 2009 (Q1 2010 in RIM time) we should be close to seeing LTE devices. Buying a non-LTE phone in 2010 will be like buying a non-3G phone today. It works but it will be far from the best available.

The Magnum should be an LTE device if it wants to be cutting edge in 2009/2010.

I wonder who will carry it first, I think its safe to say that AT&T is now responsible for the biggest failed phone launch in the history of the device game

The release of the Treo 750 was also incredibly messed up. Everyone had it by 9/12/06; The then-Cingular Treo 750 came out on 1/6/07. Almost four months haha…And then there was the seemingly never-going-to-be-released Motorola V600 back in 2005… ‘member?

So if we go by the Treo 750 delays, we should see it in mid-November, as it was first slated for mid to late July, if my memory serves me correctly!?

The bold/8800 form factor isn’t very appealing, the Curve form factor is much better. Just got a G1 and have to say am impressed so far but my Curve isn’t going away! Too valuable of a tool as I don’t have to wait for apps to give functionality I already have on my Curve due to not being released until the 22nd

So what are my options if I want to stay with T-mobile? seems like they’re always the LAST to get cool phones and the G-1 doesn’t look cool at all and has limited Outlook functionality.
    Thanks!

I wish ATT and RIM didn’t argue and cause the Storm to go to Verizon. I looked over the Bold and…

    1. I hate the keyboard…those keys just don’t work for me like the 8800 series. Give us some space between them.
    2. Price is way to high compared to other devices
    3. Call quality I hear isn’t all that great so why would I pluck down 300 in cash to sit there and go “Can you hear me now?”

I’m truly disappointed with ATT and RIM for letting what could have been a awesome product and additional subscribers go to Verizon who will nickle and dime for everything on it.

I won’t buy the Bold and won’t go to Verizon so everyone loses out…ATT,RIM,Verizon and Me.

That’s too bad you hate the Bold so much. I think the keyboard and screen are both the best that RIM has made. Reception is great, call clarity is superb, and the Bold even looks hot. I love working on it. Or streaming a movie or TV.

One thing was surprising to me: The sound quality of the speaker. W-o-W! Did Boze make those? lol…it’s by far the best, most versatile Blackberry, PDA in general, cellphone in general, device I’ve ever owned. As for the price, well, I agree with you, but I made what’s called a DEAL! :) I got it for umm…well, not a lot at all. :D

It isn’t very good look but it looks better than the curve.I think the bb pearl is one of the most good looking phones they created so far.the bold is way to big for the peple who like small phones.
