And we have lift off: AT&T Bold launches on the 27th
This is for real, kids. Information has been pouring in left, right, and center from AT&T and RIM ninjas and we can now say for sure that AT&T is planning to launch the Bold on October 27. We repeat, October 27! You know, unless something goes “wrong” with the Bold in the eyes of AT&T and there is another delay… There’s plenty of other info on the internal email seen above so if the Bold isn’t your bag, check out full details on the rest of AT&T’s upcoming lineup. Anyway, it’s about frickin’ time, AT&T. Now that the date is nice and solid, we’ll just leave you with these internal AT&T training slides for the Bold.

I was at BestBuy yesterday. The guy in the cell phone department had an actual display card for the Bold. He said the release date is Oct 26th. Price is $349.00 for new service, $429.00 for upgrades. Probably be cheapers at AT&T stores.
Wow, expensive. I’ll get it either way. Just scored me $300 in cash selling my Curve.

anyone think this thing will actually sell out? i know there won’t be lines, but you think they’ll end up having to backorder it? they almost lost me with the delays on this damned thing, the hype has to have been lost with some people.
I drop by Best Buy today (10/09/2008) and they confirmed your date. The guy also told me that they were having the training tonight and that it was going to be cheaper than the iPhone, but not sure of the price.
I got my Bold from the T-Mobile in Germany. I should be getting it on Wednesday.

AHH, would be nice but no pricing looks a little fishy to me. I think the email might be real, but someone took the liberty of tacking on that last little note about the BOLD.
I find hard to believe that they wouldn’t have included the pricing info for something that will be released in a little over a week. Everyone already knows that $300 is the expected price point.
I wanted this phone I really did but they lost me I got an iPhone and haven’t been happier!

Just received a call from an AT&T regional sales manager. He and a few of his store managers are, as of 2:10 p.m eastern, training with the Bold.
While the powers that be have not revealed the actual release date, he, based on prior training to release ratios, believes October 27th is a good date.
I wonder if this means I’ll be ordering an unlocked Nokia before that week’s through, as I no longer have any confidence at all this will be released, until it actually is, and I’m now getting heavy pressure from the wife to replace my dying/malfunctioning phone. Something about getting tired of it dialing her and it never receiving SMSes (go SK3! at least 3 I know of developed problems around the 20-month mark of the 24-month contract/renewal).
My local ATT store states that 27Oct08 is unrealistic. They are not expecting a shipment to build up their stock until mid/late November. Further, their training on the Bold was halted because of another AT&T 3G-signal-going-nuts/battery issue.

Yea, all of my phones are unlocked. I need them unlocked anyway, so whenever I get a new phone, I call in for the unlock code right away.
If you get the right rep., they give them to you on the spot, along with instructions as to how to unlock it. I unlocked 3 Curve’s so far. They’re interesting to unlock. If any of you need help with that, let me know.
I’ll have my Bold unlocked right away as well. In the Cingular days, you needed Tier II tech support to do it, but now any (willing) rep. can do it, and most of them will.
One more tip, folks: Whatever the Bold will cost, you can deal them down. I NEVER go to stores. I avoid them like the pest. But with the right supervisor + instant rebate + credits, you can get it for very little $$.
NEVER be demanding, NEVER be rude. Charm your way into that baby. I know I will.

@ Crunch: If you don’t go to the stores, how DO you suggest getting the bold?
Here is my question: If the release date is on 10/27, why hasn’t at&t advertised that date? Usually, whatever the product, companies will advertise a product a few weeks/months prior to release to get consumers ready to purchase. Anyone care to enlighten me?

These slides sound like they were written by a six year old. As a college “freshmen,” I can’t wait to use my Bold to “by music on Napster.”
So, Any ATT stores have stock of this phone that is “coming out” in 5.5 days? My german shepard is sitting next to me and his ears just perked because he is trained to locate bullshit.
I just spoke to my Blackberry rep and he says yes, they are training but the only time frame he has heard is December. He has not heard anything about the 27th and says this is very unlikely.
Guess I’m going to have to go Wed and buy a curve. I am REALLY not happy about this. I have been postponing my purchasing of a blackberry since Aug- I should have just gotten it then.
