T-Mobile UK getting the G1 October 30
With the raging desirability of the T-Mobile G1 in the states, the powers that be have let it loose to T-Mobile UK and it’s due out October 30. The big bonus is that the device will be free for those who sign up for a £40 Combi or Flext plan. Both plans have unlimited data and some combination of minutes and texts to accompany what the device is really intended to do – be a data powerhouse. Unlike the iPhone which took quite some time after its initial US release to hit other countries, it doesn’t look like T-Mobile, Google or anyone else is shying away from getting this thing global ASAP. Good news for our British pals wanting the first device to feature Google’s highly anticipated Android!

Now THIS is how rolling out a new product should go. Sadly, Tmo is the 4th largest national carrier in the US so they don’t get many exclusives, but when they do, boy do they strike. Reminds me of the pearl’s release and the long running Sidekick. I give Tmo a hard time (especially after how they fumbled so long with 3G), but it looks like they’re finally pulling it together.
Credit to the HTC/Google team too, but as we know, carriers are the make-or-break recently in a successful or crash-and-burn-screaming-baby-on-fire release. Who knows, I might actually not switch carriers.
That’s BS. That 40 quid plan is about what I’ll be paying here AND I have to pay for the phone??? Also, the UK contracts are shorter. Why do Americans get the shaft when it comes to cell phones?
And the Brits get a 2GB card while the US only gets 1GB???? WTF T-Mobile????
Very Exciting times coming, can’t wait to see all the latest reviews once the G1 surfaces.
A great set of ShopSavvy video’s for the G1 has just been added to my blog: http://www.g1phone.blogspot.com
Because there is no real competition btw the big “4″ here in the States.
In Europe there is more competition and people tend to buy phones more often.
