Windows Mobile hits the iPhone 3G
Remember that rumor about Steve Jobs having a heart attack that went around not too long ago? Well, it might just be true as soon as Stevo catches wind of this one. The video above shows a brief interview from MyPhone 2008 with a young Norweigan developer named Erik Kristiansen. While Kristiansen might not be the smoothest talker in Vegas, he has managed to put together quite a piece of software. As he explains in the video, he has essentially created bootcamp for the iPhone. When the phone powers on, the user must select between booting OS X and Windows Mobile. No you didn’t misread anything there, we said Windows Mobile! Woh. We’re not sure if iPhone users will exactly be clamoring get Windows Mobile fired up on their iPhones but it might actually be pretty nice to rock an iPhone with an OS that allows things like copy / paste and background processes for third-party apps. Kristiansen is aiming to release his work to the public this coming January and it will be open source. Of course you shouldn’t expect to see this one hit the app store - only jailbroken iPhones need apply. By the way, pretty harsh final question from Ms. Young, no? At least the kid responded politely. We might have commented on Jessica’s slight manliness as opposed to taking the high road as young Kristiansen did. No, seriously - she’s a maaaaaaaaan, maaaaaaaaan.

UPDATE: After watching the video a bunch of times, things aren’t linking up. Anyone else doubting the authenticity of this?

Brilliant. Even better: Windows Mobile runs faster than it does on custom built WM devices.
And subtle boy, she’s all over you.

awesome.
what was with that interview. was it me or was she being a jerk?

Geez. If you wanted to break the iPhone, there are easier ways than putting WM on it….

Android would be sick on the puppy. It’ll happen soon. Someone will code it!
He did a great job and WinMo ran very smooth and probably better than most WinMo OS’ on other phones.
That would be a nice alternative to have an iPhone = dual OS.
Problem is jailbroken only phones will work.

Whatever it takes to get wifi sharing and slingplayer on the iPhone. While WinMo isnt pretty and intuitive as the mobile OS that Apple has made, it still has some a few solid parts to it such as aforementioned, as well as a file structure in which you can view, move, download, upload or whatever you want to with files. Also the ability to play multiple video formats is something my iPhone simply wishes it could do.

I never thought about that, but this would seriously be great. There are certain things that the iPhone just doesnt currently have, that windows mobile has to offer. I actually would love to see apple and microsoft work something out to bring a legit version of “bootcamp” for the iphone, it would be a big win for both companies.

He’ll be a millionaire by the time he’s 18!
Also, I thought WinMo was a bad OS on phones…

So does this make it the Lucifer Phone ?

Actually about 8 years ago there was a bunch of FreeBSD developers which created a tangent of FreeBSD that they called lucifer.
FreeBSD on the iPhone would be sick… oh wait.

Aside from copy/paste functionality and MMS, I absolutely detest Windows Mobile. That said, I would totally do this because of ONE single application that I have to use for work (it is a logon password generator that isn’t available on iPhone). I have had to keep carrying around my old WinMo phone just for that ONE program. It will be nice to be able to get rid of it once and for all.

Apologies if this is mentioned in the video (sound isnt working on this PC) but does this disable the sim lock if the phone is working under windows? Id assume not as windows/OSX is software and I believe the sim lock is built into the firmware but thought id just ask!

axtually, after checking out the link. Real food analyser for the iPhone (tells youhow many calories a picture of food contains)? myPhone? Sounds a bit fishy to me, very well presented trick tho!

Awesomeness! Maybe I should “try” this on my cousin’s new iPhone, see what he thinks… ;0)
Oh, the kid…though being hit on, he was very respectful. Smooth talker and smart…I’m sure the Du definitely gets Norwegian action.

That guy totally could’ve had her.. lol!

It honestly seems like this is a home grown App. Very simply after entering the App, it gives you the “choice” to choose between operating systems. Would have been more believable if he would have made a call through WinMo.
