Huge Ad on WSJ for Blackberry Storm

We’ve known for a while that it was coming, but nothing says it’s going to be here soon like, well, the words “Coming soon.” This ad has just appeared on the Wall Street Journal as well as other newspapers this morning. Other carriers (Vodafone) have made their official announcements for Blackberry’s first-ever touch screen and it’s been rearing its head on VZW’s site, but nothing says “official” like a full page ad on one of the most widely read publications out there. Expect a flood coming along with the Storm as this is likely just the beginning of a slew of ads to come from Verizon!

Thanks to everyone who sent this in!

    It can copy and paste?
    It can forward a sms?
    It can do mms?

Man, how can it do that? The Jesus phone (iPhone) cannot even do that.

Seriously, I am considering selling my iPhone and moving my three lines to VZW. AT&T network suck balls. Apple “screw you customer” attitude is getting to me as well.

RIM stock did well today, looks like putting an ad in the WSJ got their attention.

There was also a vague and brief commercial for the Storm during the ALCS (Sox/Tampa) game this afternoon. It was basically someone reaching for the phone but it blacked out before you could see what it was. I was expecting it since Blackberry is sponsoring all the TBS games, I figured Game 1 of the World Series they would start showing the Storm every commerical break.

I’m friends with a person in advertising for the WSJ, he told me that a full page, back page ad in the paper is $250k

Everyone’s stock went up today, though, so I don’t know how much that really means in terms of the Storm.

Verizon seems to be having fun playing the “Ooh, this phone is so mysterious” card…

That’s great. Where the F is the Bold though?

Actually the Storm emulator makes me think this might be a pretty damn cool phone. Not cool enough for me to switch carriers though. Oh, and the deal-breaking lack of wifi. Come ON guys!

This is the same kind of marketing Verizon did with FIOS. They build it up for a long time, then by the time it’s out I’ve had enough time to realize that I don’t really need it. And in most places you can,t get it.
I will never get Fios because of these tactics, and now it’ll be the same with the Storm, especially with new versions already in the works. Why buy a phone that will be obsolete when it comes out.

Anyone catch the commercial last night during Heroes?

Yea I got every commercial you guys mentioned…during the ALCS, Heroes and practically every other primetime show like Gossip Girls, Chuck and My Own Worst Enemy, as well as Monday Night Football.

JustMe I really want to know what you do that you get all these exclusive e-mails. If the OMNIA is indeed coming to Verizon I think I’ll get the Storm then in the 30 days get the OMNIA so I don’t have to keep on paying for the blackberry data plan. However, if I happen the Storm enough I’ll keep it. Is there any way you could confirm that you actually received information about the Omnia coming to VZW?q

I sure could. If you’d like me to I could e-mail (you’d have to tell me your e-mail addy) you the .pdf of the rebate form that I have. Sad part is the rebate dates on this form are 10/14 - 11/15 and the Storm is NOT on it… The Omnia, however, is!! Sooo, with that being said, I highly doubt the storm is come’n out before the 15th of next month.

P.S. I sent that .pdf to BGR thinking maybe they would post it since the Omnia was such a big thing when everyone thought it was come’n to ATT this year, but they didn’t.

Correction. Just go to this link if you want to see the rebate .pdf. I figured this would be easier.

Thanks for the info JustMe…if you could e-mail it to me at likeabite@gmail.com I’d really appreciate it. I can’t view the pdf online because of the lack of flash on my work computer. So what’s your line of work that you get these exclusive e-mails and what not sent directly to you?

P.S. I also wish BGR would post tips and whatnot faster since everyone always wants to know…especially about a great phone like the Omnia

That’s prolly because nothing has been released on it yet. Literally, nothing. lol

I was shocked to even see it on there. I’ve never heard anything about the Omnia coming to VZW, only AT&T rumors. And then it shows up on our rebate forms. Crazy-ness.
