I have to respectfully disagree douchebag…they actually do care because customers are what make the brand…that’s like saying if all their customers left to T-Mobile or Verizon they wouldn’t care…a bit extreme but you see my point…you either give the customers what they want or your company will suffer for it.

I just got off the phone with my local AT&T rep trying to get some idea of how much longer the wait was going to be for the Blackberry Bold. The conversation went something like this:

Me: Hey, I was wondering have you guys received the Blackberry Bold yet or do you have a tentative release date? Seems like i’ve been waiting forever. (which I have)

AT&T: No, they normally don’t send them to us until a few days before the release though. Hey, you’re that guy that keeps calling every other week, aren’t you?

Me: Ummmm, no? You must have me confused with another customer interested in the Bold… Well let me ask you this, have they at least scheduled the training for you guys so you’ll be prepared when it does come in?

AT&T: Nope. Honestly, it’s probobly gonna be the day after Thanksgiving when it comes out but even that’s optomistic. That’s what i’ve heard and not a day sooner if then…

Me: You’re Shi**ing me! Serious???

AT&T: Yeah, that what it looks like at this point…

Me: AT THIS POINT??? So there’s no set release date? YOu have no clue, no inkling? Nothing?

AT&T: Not that I’m aware of, why don’t you take advantage of our sales on the other Blackberry products? And then upgrade when it arrives, we can…….

Hope this helps those of you who insist on being faithful to AT&T. I know we’re (me and the family) not staying. I was never a person who wanted an iPhone, never needed an iPhone but they (AT&T) want to milk all the mileage out of that cow before moving on to the next greatest thing, which by the time it’s released will be LAST YEARS LATEST AND GREATEST. Aloha AT&T!

Why do some of you numb nuts post on here asking ATT to release the bold as if A. ATT gives a rats ass about your opinion and what you want and B. they come to http://www.boygeniusreport.com to see what douchebags like you are saying about their products.

They’ll release it when they want to release the damn phone, so quit your crying about “my phone died” or “I’m gonna switch to another carrier”, because no one, SPECIALLY AT&T, gives a rat’s ass about your phone and they certainly don’t give a rats ass if you discontinue their services. They already made their money off of you and you’ll be replaced by someone else in no time.

It is an awesome phone though.

I am hearing of launches all over the place. AT&T you have a lot of loyal customers jumping ship to other carriers. Release this phone, you pretty much fixed the bugs with the IPhone and it is still a hot item, so release the Bold.

The Bold has been held up by ATT engineering due to radio/power management and the resulting lousy battery life of the original. My former colleagues tell me the new version is slightly thicker, but has very solid battery performance. “Best handset i have ever owned’ was said in two different conversations. The delay isn’t unusual with ATT; it’s frustrating personally-my old BB is on it’s last legs- but worth it ultimately i am told.

@Swede: you’ll be losing 3G, a camera, streaming video (I think…), 3.5mm headphone jack, too.

The only thing on that list that really bugs me is the loss of a camera, because while at times I can justify not having one, most of the time it’s handy for those “OMG! NEED PIC!” moments, like a pet doing something goofy, documenting accident damage (and license plates of those involved), and other random events for which carrying even a p/s camera can be a pain.

No offense to anyone, but I honestly do not think that AT&T reps know anything about releases. When i was in the At&t store I asked about when the official OS 4.5 would be available for blackberry curves and was told it had already been released some time ago..although I know it has not, and was told they had no idea when the Bold would be available..so there you have it..At&t employees are also kept in the dark.

Want to pick up a BBB when they go on sale in Dec. (and, they will). BBB will suit my needs just lovely…forget the Joneses.

Other sites suggest Rogers is doing OK with the 3G and, I suspect that because RIM is in Waterloo (and Rogers is sort of East-ish in terms of national focus) there might be some collaboration there…

Let’s dispense with the 2009, Nov’08 and Dec’08 speculations. It’ll be here in Oct…this Oct….the one we’re experiencing right now. We’ve got more Oct dates floating around than any other. We got AT&T claiming 30%+ complete on 3g network upgrades to support iPhone & BBB. We’ve got an AT&T announced set of launch parties happening this month. ….AND my local AT&T store JUST finished their Bold training this past weekend. So…..it’s coming…this month…very soon. Most likely by Oct-27th…as previously reported.

….and all I have to say about it is….

umm….. anyone else just see the 8310 go on sale?
We may be on to something… unload inventory prior to a new release.
We know 4.5 software is coming, so that may account for the service books, but I have a sneaking feeling if we don’t see Bold by next week, we’ll at least get the 8320.
