BlackBerry Bold nearing release on AT&T?

If you have a BlackBerry Bold operating on AT&T, this morning you would have woke to a few new icons and service books for YellowPages.com Mobile and TeleNav AT&T Navigator. In fact, some of us have had those icons for a couple days now. Given the name of the YellowPages.com Mobile service book, we’re wondering if this is a good indicator that AT&T may very well be getting ready to finally launch the BlackBerry Bold. That or they’re just getting their ducks in a row, and you’ll have to wait until 2009 to get a Bold, which is entirely possible. Couple more shots of the service books after the break if you’re really interested.

you know what, with all this speculation, BG you should host a pool for “guess the bold release date”

Heh. At this point, screw the Bold and AT&T’s inability to actually support it on their crap-ass 3G network. Oh, I’m sorry. Did I say something bad about AT&T? Oh noes! BG might have to kick my ass!

If I understand this correctly, the speculation is the network cannot handle the addition of another 3G device. Now, how does that makes sense, if at&t is adding CV to all 3G Blackberrys at release? Seems to fly in the face of this “network load” story. Not sure of the real issue, but I can say the “network load” excuse is BUSTED.

You can stuff your sorry’s in a sack…
Im tired of waiting for AT&T or RIM or whoeva is to blame. I’m going out to buy an unlocked e75…that’ll show ‘em!
Umm..so, an anyone tell me where I can buy an e75? Hhmp…oh yeah, sorry ’bout that.
BTW-last month’s issue of WIRED had an add in it advertising the e71 at Radio Shack…I’ve talked to several Radio Shacks, and checked their website…no one has heard of the e71.
But Best Buy has ‘em!

At this point I dont care if its the network or the OS. The phone lost all relevance and hype bring on the storm

I can’t wait for it to come out on AT&T so i can get all of the codes for the internets on my Rodgers bold to work on Arabia mobile(a divison of T-Mobile), I need my picture of the sands of home sent to me. Hurry the f up already I say. Most people call me him.

All other BlackBerry’s = EDGE not 3G (HSDPA/UMTS). Adding CV to EDGE devices doesnt even touch the 3G network. Nice try though. the 3G network on AT&T is terrible, the iPhone sucks data. A typical iPhone user consumes OVER 200mb of data in a month, many many times the amount of a standard user on any other phone. The story was posted online, I will attempt to find a link, but for each iPhone on the network 20 BBs can be supported.

Our AT&T rep reports that final Technical Acceptance will be 17 October with a street date of 27 October - this is as of earlier today.

I concur with a previous comment:
If the Storm makes it out before the Bold, I WILL LEAVE AT&T faster than John Bobbit at a knife convention.

“BlackBerry Bold nearing release on AT&T?”
Copy and paste that, I have a feeling you’ll be able to use it for a while.
To be fair, the Bold did get pulled in the U.K. for software issues relating to reception and 3G, so I guess it’s better they release it right than release it right now.

It DOES make me angry, and I would love to spite RIM/ATT, but frankly, no other phone will suit my needs, and I am so, so hooked on the BB OS, that I just can’t see myself using anything else. It’s like your wife let’s you down for a year and treats you like shit, but… you’ve been with her for 10 years, and eventually she will come around… and you still love her, right? And all of my programs and data we have created together… I guess those are analogous to kids? I guess that makes the iPhone 3G like the hot blonde you see at the office every day. She’s pretty, and sexy, and everyone else wants her… but she’s not as wholesome as the wife, and, well, there’s just no future there.

Why does AT&T always get all the old phones? The Bold has been out everywhere and is practically obsolete already. Why can’t they get a new phone like the Storm?

I don’t care anymore. I was going to get the Bold and extend my contract, since it’s done, but I see no reason to not jump to Verizon and get a better network plus a touch screen, newer BB. AT&T dropped the ball and a customer.

I’m starting not to care, but don’t want to go to Verizon. The Storm looks good but I think I will miss the keyboard and don’t want my GPS to be locked on Verizon (I’m told they do this). Verizon also charges a lot more for data plans, or at least they did the last time I looked into it. I moved from Verizon to AT&T for the Blackberry data plan, so I don’t think I’ll be going back, no matter how tempting the Storm is. AT&T will eventually work it out (I hope!) and I’ll get the phone and network I really want. I’m also considering the new Curve (Javelin) but am not sure if it will be available on AT&T. It looks like we’re ’stuck’ with the Bold on AT&T. Hopefully it will live up to the praise given it by those who have it or have used it.

Okay guys now for a moment of clarity…it’s the NETWORK okay one more time it’s the FREKIN NETWORK! IPhone sucks major juice out of the super duper 3Gisms network and A&TT engineers have to fix that problem or you’ll have iphone users and bb users on here saying how terrible att is and how they’re going to Verizon (sidenote:which sucks once you cross-over the whole greenwich meantime-line thingy)and we’ll all iphone and bold users alike will be pissed…now I don’t know if bb engineers could have done a better job at the software or att could have done a better job at designing their network but obviously this thing isn’t ready for a full fledge “COME AND GET’EM” moment…less we remember walking out of our local att store with what’s that…none freakin workin Iphones…so let’s stay calm get your anger out and then if you really want the Bold just go get it when it drops…moment of clarity over…ATT HURRY THE FUCK UP ALREADY!

Ok, not sure what this means but AT&T’s ‘Bold’ page just went offline. This is the one one that used to say “Coming Soon” and “Exclusive from AT&T”
Last time I checked it was today around 1100 EST and it was still up. The phone also no longer shows up on AT&T’s Business Line-Up.
