BlackBerry Bold nearing release on AT&T?

If you have a BlackBerry Bold operating on AT&T, this morning you would have woke to a few new icons and service books for YellowPages.com Mobile and TeleNav AT&T Navigator. In fact, some of us have had those icons for a couple days now. Given the name of the YellowPages.com Mobile service book, we’re wondering if this is a good indicator that AT&T may very well be getting ready to finally launch the BlackBerry Bold. That or they’re just getting their ducks in a row, and you’ll have to wait until 2009 to get a Bold, which is entirely possible. Couple more shots of the service books after the break if you’re really interested.

Also to note on the 8820 when i upgraded to 4.5.0.81 these service books showed up last thursday after the upgrade install.
Thank you for the post. I personally think that the bold is comming out this Thursday the 16th. The blackberry Curves have gone on sale for half off. On a business perspective it would only make sense to release it after the sale and before the Storm to keep customers. I am keeping my fingers crossed because I cant wait for a Bold finally.
ditto with 4.5 on 8310
I mean what bothers me, 2009…are you fucking serious !!!! like that is possible. Christ Pakistan just got the bold. What is next Eskimos will have the bold in Antarctica??
same here, saw em on my att curve with 4.5 OS
Is ‘Eskimo’ the politically correct term for inhabitants of Antartica?
Um much less factual. There are no native peoples in Antarctica. Isn’t it all scientists?
i have a bold on att i had these icons for a while now…
scientists and polar bears?
Device is nearing release. Still slated for later this month.
Does AT&T Nav / Telenav now support the Bold resolution, or did they simply update the icon?
really, I had no intentions of ever leaving ATT, but if the storm is out before the bold, there would be a very good possibility.
Eskimos are in the Arctic. Fair comment, though. I’d still lay odds on them getting the Bold before we do, along with everyone from the long-lost tribes of the Amazon to the most remote mountaintop village in Khatmandu… As always, I’d prefer to wait to get a device that’s fully functional, but I do think AT&T are taking the piss…(http://www.planetmanuel.com/dirk/?p=124)
who gives a crap about Eskimos, polar bears, and scientists in Antarctica…All i care about is the freaking BB Bold!! AT&T release the damn phone already!!!
The infamous BlackBerry Bold…
*le sigh*
Im starting to think if this thing doesnt launch November 1st for an early promotion for Black Friday – then I dont think it will EVER come out. 2009 is unacceptable, and by then anyone wanting a Bold, will leave for an iPhone, or G1. Those two will be well ready to take over the hype the Bold is starting to lack…
As for anyone having one of these on at&t Mobility already, my thought is this…. “If its good enough for bloggers to test, and good enough for employees to have, its good enough for their customers!” As we all know mobile phone companies love to baby and value their employees more then customers…. aka, the phone has no issues, they just want more hype.
I truly hope this is a precursor to the release hopefully by December. AT&T needs to get off their haunches and some of these phones out. I’ve been waiting for the Fuze/Touch Pro since August. The curve is old and busted. We need some new hotness.
The phone has no hype left. The Storm and G1 have clearly stolen it. Its not the device at all, the network simply cannot handle the iPhone + Bold simultaneously.
My Blackberry rep also said October 16th around 10/07/08, but I find it strange that the phone can come out in 3 days and nobody has heard anything definite about it. What about shipments, what about these potential launch parties? Do we know if they have been moved, or canceled? Also- would it really be in the best interest of RIMM and AT&T for the phone to just appear, unannounced?
I’m not to familiar with phone launches, other then the over publicized ones like Apple, but that just doesn’t seem like a good way to do it if you are really trying to sell your product.
I’m not a blackberry user, I have the oldest phone known to man, just a plain LG, but I wanted to wait until the newest technology to come out.
Any idea if I should just stop this waiting game and get the curve, or maybe continue to wait until the Storm comes out on ATT, if they’ll ever let us have it.
PS. BG, Thank you so much for your updates. I walk into my blackberry store and I know more about their products then anyone- and they are truly impressed.
The storm has hype and a nice looking device but I do not want a touch screen and the G1 is fugly and outdated looking to me at least.
Sith, tell that to Orange who dropped it because of the OS not their network.
yea go get a google phone lolol G1? what a crappy OS and crappy looking device….have fun with those HTC headphones you will have to use. can the device be any bigger? G1 stands for 1st go at it, which means junk junk junk.
i absolutely hate all the service books at&t sends with their blackberrys. it’s worse than bloatware. maybe a new term is spermware. they are putting yellow pages mobile on all of the new phones they are releasing. right on the main screen and no way to get rid of it. i hate all the crap at&t adds to phones and will not allow people to delete. at least they could put it on and give people a choice to delete it, but i’m sure they won’t change that until people start complaining. at least verizon makes you download their crap and not force it there. and all this extra shit would be tolerable but they won’t even invest in their network.
Wasn’t there talk of an October 23rd release? Somehow that still seems salient to me.
I have the Bold on ATT and it is a great device but not in any way some kind of game changer. I actually just played with the G1 and the blackberry flip. The flip is smaller than you would think, so I do believe it can and will take some serious shots at the samsung, lg, moto flips. and the G1 is a very cool device but doesn’t have the kind of necessary support yet to make it viable for the layperson. in time android surpass windows mobile and has the potential to be an awesome platform.
FWIW, the IT staff at my firm have been told by AT&T reps that the Bold will be available around November 1st.
