Bell says “us too!” – announces 4G network upgrade
Canada’s on the rise! We just told you about TELUS’ big 4G announcement today and its revised partnership with Bell. It looks like Bell got in on the action as well today and made a little announcement of its own. This will indeed be a shared project of sorts and Bell will be getting in on the 4G action. Bell CEO snippet time:
Investing in broadband networks and services and accelerating wireless are strategic imperatives for the Bell team, and they are key to achieving our goal – to be recognized by customers as Canada’s leading communications company.
Also, an anonymous tipster sent us a bit of internal correspondence regarding the announcement, and here’s a little tidbit about the current CDMA network that current Bell subscribers may find interesting:
Bell has invested over a billion dollars into the existing CDMA/1X/EVDO networks and will continue to invest in these networks. In the future, Bell will be able to offer our clients the best of both worlds. Bell is committed to offering the most wireless choice, the broadest selection of mobile phones and the best coverage – we’ll achieve that by offering the most options with both EVDO and HSPA. Having both CDMA and HSPA networks is key to our strategy of being the telecom company of choice for Canadians.
[Thanks to everyone who sent this in]

As someone stated on the same post about TELUS, it’s looking like HSPA for 2010 and LTE is sometime in the future, no date set though.
You do realize that Bell released this press release before Telus did right?
Time to update that Bell logo?
