i AM SO ANGRY WITH T-MOBILE. we have 7 phones in our little company and all have been with t-mobile… they have lied to us about the support of 3g and blackberry for month now. And now they tell me that have no plans whatsever to come out with a blackberry 3g. this company that used to be at the forefront of cel-dom is now an archaic wreck with no direction and the company is full of liars. we are going to change immediatly to another company

Javelin or curve 2 whatever you wanna call it SUPPOSEDLY hitting Tmo USA this month maybe december. Also Tmos network will be completely 3G by the end of 09, maybe sooner. Then they will begin the transition to LTE or 4G.

This will probably hit the US before the Bold is released… funny how things work sometimes. I was initially looking at the Javelin over the Bold.

Furthermore, the 7130e came out in November of 2005, so 3g Blackberry’s have been out for almost 3 years now.

@ Jeff,

The 7290 was GPRS. The 7250 was EV-DO capable, but was not enabled until a firmware update came out later. Technically, the first Blackberry on the market for sale with 3g (EV-DO) out of the box was the 7130e.

One for me please! This phone is the evolution of the Curve 83XX. It would have been nice to have 3G on it, but leaving it off will makethis a stable phone with some great new features (4x RAM and an bigger screen than the Bold!

I’m at a loss. Yes this is definately being marketed as a value version of the Bold targeted more toward consumers but to leave off 3G? CDMA providers haven’t done this, why do they feel this is acceptable for GSM? Reduce other functionality such as internal storage, wifi, whatever (don’t touch the screen).

I too would like to know more about the
problems providing a 3G chipset for HSPA as opposed to EVDO..

Funny how RIM has been providing Verizon Wireless 3G devices since, um… 2006… but is having a hard time making them for at&t? Personally, I think at&t is the one with the problem not the other way around.

Although I do like this device, I’m itching more for the new Storm

RIM only started developing 3G devices bc of AT&T, this has been in the pipeline for a while. It is also coming to T-Mo USA, which has under 20 live 3G markets.

Blackberry has a full qwerty 3g phone, but their edge line is kinda missing (either GPS, or WIFI or Camera. Not all 3 in the same device) So this would be a great replacement for the curve and 88xx series devices. plus its got the killer screen and 4.6sw.

Why does it not have HSPDA? Is the Chip so much more? TMO in Germany I thought has the 3G all up and running.
