Bell joins TELUS and announces the Blackberry Storm

Line them up and knock them down – it looks like another carrier jumped on the Blackberry Storm parade Wednesday. This time it is Bell’s turn. You lucky Canucks, first it was Telus with the announcement and now Bell launches the Storm on their website as well. No pricing or release date but the fact that two Canadian carriers are getting the Blackberry Storm is news enough.

    Bell and Telus as CDMA carriers are going to fall over themselves to get this thing on shelves. Finally they get a hot device before, or at least at the same time, as Rogers.

    Kelly has been around for a while and she has had her fair share of great posts. I wouldn’t call her a newbie… I would be more prone to call you a newbie if you haven’t been around long enough to know that.

    Often times either Bell or Telus gets the device first as a timed exclusive, or just an exclusive.

    Bell got the HTC touch for 6 months before Telus got it, the HTC touch diamond is available on Telus now, with no whisper of when it might come to Bell. Bell has the LG Glimmer, while Telus has the LG enV2.

    Just because they are both CDMA doesn’t mean they get all the same phones at the same time. It’s actually pretty rare for them to launch the same phone at the same time.

    From what I can tell they will not be releasing them at the same time. I *think* that Telus will get a short jump on Bell for this one, Telus is actively advertising “in time for the holiday season” which would indicate a Nov launch, where as Bell makes no such claim. In fact, on Bell’s page (www.bell.ca) there is NO mention of the Storm. It isn’t linked from their main site either.

    @dud3
    since we have Alltel, Sprint, and Verizon as CDMA carriers does that mean they’re all getting the Storm? No, just Verizon. Your logic is flawed.

    Jeremiah says:

    Agree with JJCool–by dud3’s logic, those three, along with U.S. Cellular, MetroPCS, Cricket, etc., should be getting the Storm. Hell, since it’s a dual-mode device, T-Mobile and AT&T should be getting it too.

    Actually, regardless of flawed logic or not, at the very least, T-Mobile should be getting the Storm. It’s not like they get the Pearl Flip exclusive for very long, as Verizon seems to be picking it up soon after, and T-Mobile needs every upper hand it can get to catch up to the big three. Not that Sprint hemorrhaging customers isn’t helping that tremendously…
