Vodafone officially announces the AppleBerry iStorm; Huh?

Visitors to Vodafone’s Storm launch pages last night were greeted by some very interesting imagery. If seeing is believing, then apparently Vodafone just dropped the most jaw dropping handset imaginable – a touchscreen BlackBerry running Apple’s mobile OS X… And it’s already jailbroken! That’s right people, when Vodafone’s BlackBerry Storm pages first went up on the Vodafone site, all of the handset images included screen captures from a jailbroken iPhone. Seriously, we’re not joking. How could a mistake like this possibly happen? There are only a few scenarios we can come up with that would lead to a mistake of this magnitude. Perhaps the entire creative team at Vodafone went on a week-long bender to celebrate the impending arrival of the Storm and these pages were slapped together in the midst of it? Or maybe the team in charge of the website unanimously decided that they’ve had enough of working for the jolly red giant so they switched out the screen images at the last moment. Whatever the case might be, expect to see a fresh batch of listings on Vodafone’s careers page any minute now. Hit the jump for more shots of the AppleBerry iStorm.

[Thanks Robby]

    This phone is really good news for those that can’t get a iphone do to carriers, 2 things i don’t like about it is, 1st, No WiFi 2nd, blackberry services and exchange are just to damm expensive, a exchange hosted account alone is over $300+ a year, if Apple could just get their shit together and fix up Mobile me it will really make the iphone more attractive

    Where do you get an exchange hosted account for $300? Mail2Web Exchange is free. There are many other Exchange hosting providers for less than $10/month. I use Sherweb for $8.95 for a 3GB mailbox and a free limited Sharepoint site…

    A 10GB, hosted Exchange plan is $24.95 per month, per mailbox from Microsoft-certified partner DNAMail, plus a $2 monthly fee for Windows Mobile or BlackBerry mobile push service, or $324 annually (the BlackBerry plan does not get mobile push calendar and contacts and incurs an additional $20 fee, for a grand annual total of $344). Despite being more than three times the retail price of MobileMe, DNAMail only offers half the storage; Apple gives MobileMe subscribers 20GB to allocate between email and iDisk use. its very easy to do screenshots on iphone, perhaps these were just full screen picture views. However its done, it was stupid.

    This is better than when RadioShack released pictures of an iPhone… with installer on the home screen.

    @keymaker

    You don’t need a hosted exchange account to have a BlackBerry with push e-mail. GMail and Yahoo mail are supported for free, just sign up for either and you have push e-mail at no cost other than the data plan.

    Are you serious? What on earth makes you think you need hosted exchange to have push email and calendar sync? Google with BIS does it for free, and last time I checked, has OVER 20 gigs of storage. Correct me if I’m wrong, but isn’t that better than MobileMe for $100/year?
