Blackberry Storm Simulator and JDE 4.7 Beta now available on RIM’s website

Getting in a frenzy from all the press releases and new product images of the Storm? Settle down, RIM has a quick fix for ya. Head on over to RIM’s website and download yourself a copy of the new Blackberry Storm Simulator. Indulge yourself and give the touchcreen UI a thorough test run. Be warned the simulator uses that old silver-rimmed image of the Storm. Ugly! Looks aside, it is almost as good as holding it in your hand. Well, not really - we’re just trying to be nice and help through your extreme case of “I Want it Now” gadgetitis. For you Java code monkeys out there, you can also download the JDE 4.7 beta and start cracking on the latest and greatest touchscreen Blackberry application. What are you waiting for? Stop reading and start downloading!

Thanks to all who sent this in!

LMFAO. I’ve been laughing for like the last 5 minutes cause when I was using my laptop keyboard to type in the simulator (instead of using the simulator’s keyboard) I eventually crashed the App. But that’s not the funny part. When the white screen came up and gave me an blackberry error message, one of the screens said, “the system is being retarded” and then the app closed. I’m pretty sure that’s only in the app but that’s pretty damn hilarious. We should have more error codes like that.

Hey, I’ve been a Mac owner for the past 18 months, and swear never to buy another PC again, but you can’t pay me enough to be a rogers costumer ever again, so just for that, Apple lost me on the IPhone! and I am very much looking forward to the storm.

i just hope verizon don’t blow this by pricing their plans up. They should have a separate new plan for this device, just like tmobile did. Blackberry got one of the most expensive plan on the verizon network, and if verizon dont change this, there goes the hype and the phone.

I am not a Blackberry user and don’t have an iPhone. After playing around with this, the G1 sim, and my friend’s iPhone, I prefer Android over the other two. The Storm looks better than the G1 but Android is easier and more intuitive to use for someone like me, who has never tried either. Even better than iPhone which I really liked when I first tried it. I’m sure BB users will love this and it will definitely convert some who aren’t. But for me Android is the future and the way to go.

Kinda cool how it accesses your web cam if you have one when selecting the camera or video camera modes.

Yes that trim is sooooo ugly, just like first IPHONE and the 3G Iphone.
From all the POSITIVE responses the Storm is getting from various sites it looks to be a homerun for RIM. I bet you wont have any DROPPED calls like the Iphone!

“I bet you wont have any DROPPED calls like the Iphone!” … HA HA HA… Wanna bet?

And I’d take another wager that their browser sucks compared to iPhone…

And another bet that McLame loses the election

Any idea if there’s a way to accurately test what sites will/won’t load via the simulated browser?

RIM is making a big mistake. Some of the best java developers own and develop on OS X. That is the whole point of Java, but RIM in its infinite wisdom even releases Eclipse IDE plugins as a windows exe file. Makes zero sense.
