Vertu goes uber-luxury with £24,000 ($42,600) white gold Signature S handset

Vertu’s new Signature S handset gets priced and does not disappoint. Starting at £7,540 ($14,000), the base model has a stainless steel finish, a yellow gold version is priced at £18,000 ($32,000) and the premium white gold version will set you back a mere £24,000 ($42,600). This new luxury handset features a patented keypad containing solid ruby bearings and comes with ringtones and alerts taken from a specially composed piece performed by the London Symphony Orchestra. All of this decadence on top of 850MHz/2100MHz 3G support, Wi-Fi, an OLED display, and a slide-out SIM card tray. If you even have to think about which couch cushion to pillage to order this beauty, don’t bother. You cant afford it.

While I realize there are lots of people to whom this phone is something they’d buy with their pocket change.. I just have to still be amazed at the amount of suckers out there that will buy something like this, simply because it costs $42,000.

I could see - maybe - buying something like this if it offered something truly revolutionary with bleeding edge tech that deserved the price tag… Like, say, having the OLED screen 1920×1080 and being able to watch movies on the thing in HD! At that small size, the picture would look super-real… and give it a 160gb HD and of course the world’s tiniest CPU that could process and play an HD movie while listening for phone calls, etc.

Now THAT….. THAT would be worth $42,000. Not this gold-case nonsense with ringtones made by a philharmonic orchestra on contract. Spare me.

Seriously i can’t believe Vertu is still around. the only person that i hear of who’s bought a vertu was Paris Hilton. Thats it. And even when u try to do a search on who has this phone, nothing comes up. I don’t understand how can a phone maker be around with when they sell maybe three units a year. (my estimate). If u sell ten a year then okay, u got something here but, i’ll bet the sky rocketing value of my condo that they will not sell 10 of these 42k ones from now till next year this time.

Are they still Nokia inside? For me this is worth less than $200. If you don’t have a life you need a $42000-phone - being just nice(?) is by far not enough for me.

To someone who never live a luxurious life will never understand why some idiot want to dump $42,000 for a phone. Besides it is the same as who wants to pay $1,000,000 for a stupid horse, $40,000,000 for a yacht, $$500,000 for a set of wheels.
Hey, this is the difference between low life and high life. If you have never heard of anybody owning Vertu, then mate you’re living at the wrong side of your life. Wake up…
