T-Mobile triples the amount of G1 handsets it originally anticipated selling

If anyone had doubts about how well the T-Mobile G1 would sell, a T-Mobile spokesperson stated yesterday that it has tripled its pre-order stock to keep up with the demand. Hence getting pre-orders back in business for the demanding consumers. T-Mobile is planning on selling half a million G1/Android devices by year’s end and it looks like they just might be on track to do so. The spokesperson said, “Given the great anticipation and the heavy pre-sale demand for the T-Mobile G1 with Google, we nearly tripled the number of phones initially available for delivery on our Oct. 22 launch date, and have sold through them all.” Very impressive. Before the pre-orders were re-stocked, the web site was down due to the massive amounts of traffic and T-Mobile’s phone lines were tied up for hours… talk about a frenzy!

kanebb, that’s a bit harsh. For a touch phone w/qwerty keyboard it’s not too bad. Also, since it’s HTC, build quality should be very good (I’ve had a Tilt for a long time and find it to be very solid)

I’m going to have to agree with kanebb. It may have an amazing OS, but just look at it.

Don’t get me wrong, I love HTC and they have some amazing looking devices, but what happened to this one?

    Personal opinion.

while I will most likely be purchasing this phone, its looks raise questions. to me this looks like a prototype design sent to production in an effort to get to market asap.
