As far as the typing goes The iPhone I assume is the same as the iPod touch and it sucks. My LG Dare has the most amazing typing. Everytime I mess up I look at the screen to see it correct. I don’t know how LG does it but I can type as fast as I possibly can and it comes out perfect everytime. The iPod touch on the other hand when I’m sending emails and such I find myself constantly going back and fixing or having to look at the screen to hit space to correct. If the STORM is anything like the LG Dare touch screen I will be one happy customer come the first week of november. If it falls short then oh well! it will still rise far above other phones in every other catagory. Except no wifi!! but then again, WIFI isn’t that big of a deal with Verizon because of the vast highspeeed network. iPhone needs wifi to make up for ATT&T’s lack of highspeed coverage. I can’t wait!!!!!

@ gbdesai: You can get Telenav on a Verizon 8830 as an alternative to VZNavigator and use internal GPS. In fact, you can order it from Verizon directly and they put it on your bill. You just need a corporate-liable account to get it.

Standalone GPS on Storm will be unlocked and ready for developers to exploit at launch.

I’m so bummed about this. I love blackberry and have no interest in an iPhone. Why won’t the Apex or Thunder be on ATT?

The cripping refers to the practice Verizon has of turning off phone features and re-enabling them if you purchase a service through Verizon. For example, you can’t use TeleNav or Blackberry Maps (with the GPS location services) on a BB8820 on Verizon, you have to use VZNavigator and no other apps can use the built-in GPS.

We are hoping they will allow other applications to leverage location-based services rather than “crippling” this functionality. Hope that made sense.

sean there is nothing wrong with Verizon. The Storm’s gps will not be crippled, as it has aGPS, giving you access to Verizon’s VZ Navigator, Blackberry Maps and Google maps if you choose to download it.

To further expand I have a Treo 700p with Sprint and I’m thinking of switching to a BB. I can get the Curve now for $99 but is it worth the wait for the Javelin, Bold or Storm? How long do you think it will be?

Looks like from the document that GPS may NOT be crippled after all, just that Verizon is offering Turn-by-Turn, I expect through VZNavigator, but it says it has location aware capabilities for BB Maps and other apps… That would be nice indeed.

This document references the N95 as having the largest installed base for touch screen phones in Europe. They also have a picture of an original N95 next to the N95 8GB specs. It’s good to know that RIM really goes the extra mile in researching their competition.

Seeing as the 8830 is priced at $199 on VZW, and seeing how the thunder falls “half a phone” above the 8830 on the pricing chart, it leads me to believe that it will probably be priced at around $249.00

WOW…BG you’ve finally proven to me why I come on this site…great info and I’m loving how RIM seems to be just ditching AT&T and releases so many phones on Verizon. It’s a good corporate move seeing as how AT&T has made the iPhone their primary handset and thus has created tension between the two.
