T-Mobile HTC Shadow II is on the horizon

Following up on their popular and consumer-friendly T-Mobile Shadow, the boys in pink are releasing the Shadow 2. While we’ve seen it before, from these pics, it looks a little better and definitely a nice successor to the original. The keyboard still features the two-letters-per-key, which some are not a huge fan of, and reveals itself when the phone slides open. This will be the first device to feature Windows Mobile 6.1 with UMA capabilities. Everyone who has a HotSpot@Home account now has more options in terms of phone selection – good call on HTC and T-Mobile’s part. As far as we know, this little bugger is slated for an October 15 release on T-Mobile and will likely be $149.99 with new contract and mail-in rebate. There aren’t too many other details on the device for now, especially whether it will support T-Mobile’s new 3G network (let’s hope, but doubt it), but we’ll keep all our faithful readers updated as we can! Hit the link for more pics…

Thanks Roger A!

    After a delay from July 11th, looks like T-Mobile and HTC held back on this bad boy – was it to add 3G to it? One can hope.

    Just great. First tmobile and htc release that sidekick wanna be g1(I expected more from htc maybe more pocketable). And now instead of giving us the touch diamond they release a sequel to the craptacular shadow. And edge only to top it off.

    @defiantbeast

    What did you expect from the G1. One of the guys that made it used to work for danger. That’s why you see a lot of the features the G1 has the sidekick has (obvoulsly not the reallt good ones but the trackball, back end server backup, the notification at the top when you get an email or text, the keyboard). Its a sidekick users dream phone.

    The shadow 2 looks really nice, not gonna judge it yet since I don’t know a lot about it.

    T-Mobile just dropped the current Shadow price down to $50 after a $50 MIR, so it looks like they’re getting ready to clear out inventory for the new version.

    I will agree the shadow is crap unless you hack it all up. As for the sidekick comparison no way man, it may show some look a like features in the os, but you cannot compare phone iv tested both phones and hands down the G1 takes it by a long shot.

    I don’t understand why tmobile is keeping away from the full qwerty keyboard. Like the G1. That should be the only keyboard out now cause the BB Pearl type keyboard sucks. This phone would be badazz if it included a side-sliding keyboard. I still like the phone and actually for people that understand data phones, the shadow is a sleeper. It might look simple but I promise it has some great features, like downloaading nintendo games!! T-mo is stepping up but could use a little push in the back.

    mia: It’s good if you prefer T-Mo to ATT. It’s better if you like a real keyboard. It’s better if you don’t feel like entering into a closed ecosystem that requires all software to come through one gateway and be approved by one company. It’s better if you don’t want to pay quite so much. It’s better if you want to be able to add storage via MicroSD. It’s better if you want some of the apps unique to the G1. It’s better if you want to pay less for service.

    I think it’ll be a pretty awesome phone like the previous shadow, except it would be totally freakin sweet if it was or had a touch screen.
