T-Mobile BlackBerry Pearl Flip 8220 gets priced
Contrary to the rumored ultra-cheap pricing that many were expecting, a reported leak may reveal the upcoming BlackBerry Pearl Flip 8220 is priced a bit higher. A tmonews forum member claiming to be a T-Mobile employee has posted what he claims to be the price points for T-Mobile’s upcoming 8220 release, and they look like this:
- New Activation 2 Year Contract $149.99 (after $50 MIR)
- New Activation 1 Year Contract $199.99 (after $50 MIR)
- Full Upgrade 2 Year Contract $167.99 (after $50 MIR)
- Full Upgrade 1 Year Contract $217.99 (after $50 MIR)
- Partial Upgrade: TBD
- Retail Price: $349.99
So it’s not $50 but $150 after mail-in rebate is hardly a ridiculous price tag for RIM’s first BlackBerry to have a clam shell form factor. While T-Mobile will be the only carrier to offer the Pearl Flip in the US, we also know that Rogers will be carrying it north of the border. Surprisingly, T-Mobile’s pricing (if accurate) is well above the $49 - $99 CAD that Rogers will be asking with a 3 year contract. Regardless, we know T-Mobile will be making the 8220 available this fall so we should know how accurate this pricing is soon enough.

I feel bad for the Blackberry Bold…I’ll just wait till that gets released first before deciding to upgrade my pink Colorwared Curve to this Pearl Flip…

I wish T-Mobile had the silver one available at launch, instead of just the burgundy one. Definitely looks the most classy out of all of them.

I agree, the Blackberry phones are starting to look more classy. I read an article about Mike Lazaridis, Blackberrys CEO, hiring watch makers to design the upcoming Blackberry’s…and I can see it in the new Blackberrys…very cool.
P.S - Today would’ve been the day the Bold came out…so sad…let us mourn…lol.

Actually got to use this and the Javelin today…
It was alot slimmer than I thought it would be.
And the resolution is good too.
I have proof of the Javelin… unfortunately no proof of the Pearl Flip.
But believe me! It’s not as thick as people have said!

I wish VZW would get on the ball with unveiling their new smartphone lineup. I am a devout customer but far too much time has passed waiting for new BBs or even the sch-i770 when AT&T is coming out with essentially their third Samsung smartphone. What gives? TMO shouldn’t be the only one to have this BB flip.

I think it’s still pretty cheap considering that it still is a smartphone, but just with a consumer friendly form factor…The Blackberry plans on T-Mobile are a really good deal and will save you some moolah in the long run…love Blackberry and T-Mobile! Now, I want some Javelin news! Javelin news! Where’s my Javelin news? lol…Oops, I mean Blackberry Curve II.

I don’t understand why people think this is expensive. This is still a fully-functional Blackberry. There are dumbphones being sold for the same price if not higher. Why would anyone sell this device for $50? Be realistic, people.

I saw it at AT&T store at Burlington Mall store. Didn’t know, didn’t know what I was looking at. Now I do and I going back for one.

Let’s see the Javelin proof! Do you have some info about when it will be released and on what US carrier? I am waiting for this phone, but only if it is coming out soon. If not, I might just jump on the Storm bandwagon.
