Comments on: Nokia 5800 XpressMusic finally announced

I just bought this phone last yesterday and payed approx 350 USD for it. So far i have used it for web browsing, text messaging, flash games, camera, yahoo messenger, google maps, games and other basic functions.

What is my opinion about the 5800? well, it seems to be .. an acceptable first draft. People this is no iPhone and cannot be compared to one either.

I like to consider my self an advanced symbian user – aka I’m used to frequent crashes and hang ups – This phone can require some patience. The phone is a bit glitchy and has bugs .. im hoping for a firmware update soon.

Overall – Still bang for the buck . . if you change your cellphone every year this would be a good affordable option.

I know what Nokia thinks. This is the phone for emerging markets who cannot afford a $700 iPhone. This phone can do almost everything iPhone can do in terms of features. Most features are better, some are not.
Nokia’s manufacturing muscle is evident, when they pitch a feature rich phone at such low prices. This is something Apple can never achieve. Nokia is itching for a fight at their own terms, and they carefully avoid walking into Apple’s home turf. Apple cannot pick this fight without cutting margins. Interesting fight indeed.

And…it’s small and light compared to the ifone and the storm, which i think is the biggest advantage of this phone. And my favorite attribute.
Any other small touch phones use Crappy Mobile 6.0…and..come on now. It ain’t 1997.

I remember that phone. I was totally blown way. I am in fact disappointed by the design of this phone especially coming from nokia and after the e71 which is fantastically designed.

But who cares, it’s a touch S60…better be damn good.
It’s just a shame its a music phone cause i mean, who really cares.
What they should have done is thrown a 5mp camera in there and i love the 16:9 recording. No consumer phone or camera records in 16:9 with the exception of the new sony HD cybershot. I think its a sony. Might be a philips…whatever. cant wait to get my hands on one.

Will AT&T even get it? Its an obvious iPhone competitor and I’m sure their deal with Apple prevents them from offering a competing device.

Yeah, that’s definitely an error more common to older phones/firmware. I haven’t seen it on any of my S60 handsets in quite a while.

Make sure if you’re using the phone on AT&T you delete the proxy address and port from your AP…

i have a nokia n78 and i don’t get a time out error often at all. Maybe once every 2 weeks? I have it 2 months and encountered the error 5 times.

Wow, really thick if those specs are accurate. Plus, just saw a promo video, and the person navigating the screens seemed to have troubles. I hope the OS and hardware are more responsive come launch date!
