Steve Ballmer announces Windows Cloud OS

“Developers, developers, developers, developers!” Steve Ballmer has just announced limited details about a new Windows Operating System: Cloud. Separate from the upcoming and highly anticipated Windows 7, Cloud is geared toward developers to aid them in writing web-based or cloud-computing applications. While Microsoft has primarily been a desktop-based software company, it is opening up to delivering software via the web, much like Google does. This makes the process less costly, easier for consumers and there is generally less maintenance. For the most part, Ballmer didn’t spill anything else for fear that it would sully the surprise. Thanks for that, Steve.

Seems like they’re keeping on the DL, so we’ll have to wait and see what happens. We all know Microsoft… full of surprises.

That’s why Stallman was so pissed! Oh wait…

Anyway, Why don’t they worry about building a stable OS that isn’t a glaring piece of dogshit instead of building another new OS.

Why don’t they take cues from that research OS they designed and Windows Server 2008 and build a stable OS without all the eye candy that’s meant to be a workstation workhorse. Then after the fact, throw some lipstick on that pig to make a home version. (I’m sorry, I just had to!)

Lipstick on a pig?! Oh. I am sooo offended. That was sexist and demeaning and just totally inappropriate. Pffffffffft.

@Marc: Geo tagging posts? When you launch the iPhone tool, there’s going to be a setting to turn that off, right? Unless of course I’m somewhere cool like Delaware and rocking BGR on my iPhone.

Yeah there’s an option to turn it off. But should you ever make it to Delaware, you’ve GOTTA leave it on. Let everyone know, “Hi…… I’m in Delaware.”

They’ve already have a small service called Mesh. Its not as mature as Mobile Me but its a decent start. I would have figured support for Apple and Mobile phones would have been up and going by now, but its not… With the way webservices are improving now, I welcome the idea of cloud computing. While a loss of a data connection will leave you stranded, 4G technologies are in development to help over come this in the future.

Microsoft makes a new product and people won’t even let the old ones be. What in this post has to do with Windows Vista? I guess you don’t know what cloud computing is even after reading this post MadMike. They serve totally different purposes and there’s nothing wrong with Vista for them to fix so go back to your MAC and shut up.

Ok as a Mac hater (based on their *quality* products and over priced equipment) my comment was a contrast/compare of both services without a bias to either one. As for Vista, that was nothing more than a revisit to Millenium that never should have been released. Most of the functionality was removed because they wanted to push a new product to whore system resources. Read in to the post before you start slamming people. I bet by the time you’ve read this, you’ll have already made it home, beat your wife and children, have a spare moment to stare in a mirror and think “I am a man”. Fuck off.
