BlackBerry Storm launching on Vodafone world wide November 9th?

We’re working to completely confirm this info, but it does sound about right. Two of our sources have told us that Vodafone’s global launch date for the BlackBerry Storm is on November 9th. No telling if Verizon’s release date is the same, but we had heard November 7th for Verizon, so who knows. There are also rumblings about an October 9th Verizon/Vodafone/RIM press event in New York City. Hold on BlackBerry fans, you won’t even recognize the Bold in about a month…

You obviously don’t read Crackberry.com forums. Every single person who has had time with a Storm over there has had nothing but good things to say.

Actually, having haptic or any other type of feedback on the iPhone touch screen is just not necessary. When you touch a button, it works. it’s that simple. You don’t have to mash it or tap it several times to get a response like most touch screens. Actually, I think the iPhone is currently the only real touch screen as everything else is really a “mash” screen or “push” screen if you will. You can turn key clicks on the keyboard if you want a sound effect when you type, but seriously, you don’t need confirmation from the device when you touch it. The immediate and fluid response is all the feedback you really need.

I hope that the Storm turns out to be a good device for those of you who prefer RIM’s OS. Having a really good touch screen give you so much more flexibility than and fixed hardware keyboard. The iPhone’s keyboard adapts to what type of program you are in and changes accordingly.

As far as the web browser on the BB, it may use the same webkit but will only really be as good if it incorporates the pinch and pull method of browsing. I haven’t seen anything that says it will but if you want the full experience of iPhone browsing, then you’ll need it. I hate hardware zoom in and zoom out buttons.

“Be honest. You won’t care what BG thinks when he gets the device unless he likes it. If it turns out he doesn’t, like others who’ve actually used it…”

You’ve gotta be kidding me. The “others who’ve used it”? The only persons that I’ve read about who’ve used the phone and didn’t like it, was this “ninja” guy, using old software, and this unconfirmed person who claims he was paid a dollar to do a VZW Storm commercial. LMAO, that holds a lot of weight and definitely should be taken seriously. LMAO. Boy Genius has also been saying negative stuff, “I don’t like it, it will be garbage.”, But based on what? He’s never even claimed to use it, or given reasons why it will be garbage.

Oh I sure hope the Blackberry Storm browser, like the iphone, has this webkit thing. Man, I’m totally excited for this Blackberry to come out. The Iphone 3G does look tempting though…so many phones to choose from. Anyone once a Blackberry user who has switched over to an Iphone 3G and actually liked it better? Let me know…

I actually consider myself an Apple fanboy. If BG posted a nice review of the device and gave his opinion (with evidence!) then I would definitely take it into consideration before making a purchase. But until then, he is just bashing something he has never used. I do not know if it will be the phone to end all phones, which is why I will not say, “Its amazing!” Are you and BG dating or something? Because you love defending him when he says something with no backing.

If you rely on getting your email, nothing touches a Blackberry. Nothing.

If you rely on your email and you want a touch screen device with high resolution screen and a good browser, you are naturally interested in the Storm.

If you ever type while not looking at your phone or your fingers, feeling the vibration is a big win for any device.

Why does it always have to be this vs. the iPhone? The iPhone is great for a lot of people and if the Storm does what it says, it will be very, very popular. There are a lot of people that prioritize email over music and web.

    Nobody touches Blackberry for email.

I wouldn’t make comments like that, especially if I drove a Ford Mustang. I like your website and trust every review you have had…when you actually have used the device. Chorzoman – out!

Apple is researching a haptic screen for the iPhone/Touch. Lets see if you stick to your “not necessary” thoughts after they have released it.

I am looking forward to a touch/click screen so I can use the phone with one hand. My thumb can drag across the screen like it currently does across a keypad. Then when I have highlighted the correct letter I can just push a little then move on. Trying that on an iPhone drove me crazy.

I haven’t tried this device yet so I am holding my decision, unlike many here. I think people will either love this click-able screen or completely hate it. I don’t see there being much middle ground. Similar to how people either love the iPhone screen or hate it.

I do too. Or I should write I DID too. The blatant bias against Verizon and RIM, especially the Storm, makes me less likely to believe a Storm review even when he does get his hands on one.

Any bad Storm review by BGR becomes suspect when he spends months bashing the device before he even touches one. I won’t help but read bias into his Storm review after the unfounded hate he has spread here.

This is the same reason I take any crackberry.com review with a grain of salt. I know they will slant pro-RIM. At least that’s a given considering the site name.

This is sad since I used to trust BGRs reviews. Lately with the pro-AT&T/Anti-Verizon Pro-Apple/anti-RIM sentiment from BGR I will start to question whether all his reviews have this bias he is showing in the blog.

    ______________________________________

You are retarded and merit no response but I’ll give you one anyway. BGR was mostly infamous for breaking the latest and greatest RIM news. It has always been speculated that BGR employed by RIM and very likely a higher up in their R&D department. Others speculated that BGR must be sponsored by RIM because nearly all of his articles were leaks on RIM devices. Most were dead on. People believed that he was a plant for RIM to generate excitement about Blackberry products. Again, more speculation and never proved or disproved to my knowledge. As far as I or anyone else knows, he may still have access or know someone with access to the Storm and every other RIM device out there and IS stating opinions from first hand knowledge. Either way, this was and still is the GO TO site for RIM leaks/info. I’d say labeling BGR as a RIM hater would be like calling the Pope a “Jesus Hater”…

If BGR has been posting negatively about RIM then I would have to believe that he’s posting his opinion, as he has a right to do. AT&T and Apple are selling iPhones and other devices just fine and would have no need to pay BGR to post negatives about RIM since it would really have no impact on those sales either way. I don’t think BGR, me, or anyone else on this forum give a rats fat ass what device you like or what OS you favor. This is a blog to report leaks/rumors/news about cellular related products and for us to comment on those posts.

Personally, I love my iPhone but don’t care for AT&T. If the Storm is as kick ass of a device as most of you seem to think it is (based again on the fact that NONE of you ‘tards have the device either) then I may retire the iPhone to my gaming and multimedia device and grab a Storm on VZW, which by the way, I think is a GREAT network. (If you don’t have to travel overseas). Of course, we haven’t seen yet just WHAT Big Red is going to do to this device once they get it. Strip wifi, gps, custom UI??? Sounds familiar with VZW.

Keep your homosexual fantasies confined to the “Can you hear me now?” and leave me out of them. I defend his right to express his opinion. That’s all. I ready post after post from most of you about how kick ass the Storm is going to be and none of you know any better. However, I don’t slam you for just stating an opinion that you like it and think its great. What I do hate is everyone having to slam the iPhone when talking about the Storm. RIM wouldn’t even consider making a touch only device until the iPhone came about and now they are talking about their own “Apps Store”? I agree with another poster here that ever device doesn’t have to be Everything vs. the iPhone. And you DON’T have to make things personal by saying something as stupid as “are BG and I dating”… I suppose if you defend a trusted friend’s right to free speech that makes YOU a homo? (not that there’s anything wrong with that….)

I for one wish that BG would come out and publish and editorial on what exactly his stance is and establish a tone for the site. It’s one thing to be pro-American 3G support, pro GSM/UMTS/HSPA, pro unlocked devices/”open” access, pro wi-fi, and pro free apps/free GPS support. If that is the stance that BG is taking, it would explain why the site has become pro AT&T/pro Apple as of late. But it is quite another to bash a device or bash a network without giving explicit reasons or explicit examples of how a certain product fails to meet those standards.

You guys are too funny… if you think there’s a pro-AT&T or pro-Apple part of the site, you need to get your eyes checked. We cover Apple and AT&T a little more than others possibly because of the amount of interest. AT&T in terms of upcoming products, and let’s face it, the interest in the iPhone device and platform. I have used a Storm, but it was a very early model and it was for a VERY short period of time. Will my impressions change? Possibly. But it goes back to RIM’s ability to produce a quality device which has not happened with the Bold and I don’t forsee it happening with Storm.

    @Verizon Guy

There’s no bashing. We give every carrier shit. If you want me to spell it out for you, I think Verizon has the BEST network in the ENTIRE country. That goes for voice AND data. But I don’t believe that’s enough anymore as their handsets are appalling and they have treated customers like stupid morons up until recently when they started to get sexy with upcoming products (Storm, HTC phones, etc.) I love Verizon and I think their open initiative will be a huge success as long as they don’t blow it. We’re huge BlackBerry fans (I bought most of the team Bolds as gifts) and we’re huge Apple fans. The fact is both companies do some things incredibly well, and some things pretty miserably. It’s not my fault if RIM has lately blown a lot of opportunities where they could have literally had the world by its balls.

With all seriousness, do you not admit that you provided extra criticism of both Verizon and the Storm? I mean, when you’ve criticized the Storm, you don’t even both to give an explanation most of the time. You even said in a comment in the article, “I think it will still be garbage” WTF?! Are you serious? lmao, that is hate, you didn’t even bother to say anything to back it up, just “garbage”.

    Then you say here,
” I have used a Storm, but it was a very early model and it was for a VERY short period of time. Will my impressions change? Possibly”

Ok so you admit to ONLY using a very EARLY model of the Storm, and for a VERY short period of time, yet you say these negative things? The bianess here is far to obvious to anyone with common sense. Just look at this part that I’m talking about right here.

Dude… It doesn’t take a Harvard scholar to see the sort of build quality issues that are happening with the Bold in addition to the MAJOR software issues. Add in a BRAND new OS (4.7) and a completely new way of navigating (capacitive, click, AND multi touch screen) and you’ve got a recipe for a disaster. RIM has bitten off way more than they can chew this time and it will show soon enough. They can’t delay the Bold like they have done, there is a firm time line set for Storm and it will ship buggy code and all. But don’t listen to me. I’m just an average guy off the street reporting rumors from other sites. There’s no original content here at all.

Makes my day that I was able to get under your skin to the point I did! LOL Just so ya know I don’t have a true favorite OS, they all have their strong points. My issue is with making a broad statement like BG did on a device he has not reviewed. I am certainly not claiming I am THE GOD of the industry as you do and how we should react. BUT I have made millions over the years in this industry and I credit that to keeping an open mind to coming products market changes. Before bashing someone and using insults next time, take a moment and realize you are just another blogger like the rest of us, NOT the God Blogger! Even though I have been very blessed by the industry I still respect others. But on your petty little level, STILL makes my day that you we’re probably shaking all over posting your comments…

Fact #1: There is no ‘ctrl’ button on Chuck Norris’s computer. Chuck Norris is always in control.

Fact #2: Chuck Norris destroyed the periodic table, because he only recognizes the element of surprise.

Fact #3: If you have five dollars and Chuck Norris has five dollars, Chuck Norris has more money than you.

Fact #4: Chuck Norris can sneeze with his eyes open. (that’s right folkes)

BG – I know we’ve heard this before but could it possibly be AT&T’s shitty 3G network causing the delays in the Bold? We’ve heard you report RIM delay after delay but when you take all things together and note that the Bold has launched in most major markets except for the US on AT&T I dont think the issue lies with RIM..

With your comment towards the Storm, ok you used an early version and you didnt like it. Thats your opinion and although may not be completely fair to comment (Im pretty sure the iphone had issues pre launch on early builds). Ive said it before and Ill say it again this click crap may be the best or the worst but until you have the final build of the product in your hand maybe you should hold off from bashing it
