Vodafone launches Blackberry Storm site and gives one away for free

Vodafone UK launched their Blackberry Storm website in a grand way today. Sign up for launch alerts and you automatically get registered to win one for free. Though there’s practically (read: none) no information on the actual product, it does refer to the handset as a BlackBerry 9500. But what does that mean for you? Well, the 9500 model has tri-band HSDPA. Plus, we all know where to grab those unlock codes from

Thanks, Likeabite!

    1) Well, finally confirmation that it will be known as the “Storm” everywhere and not the “Thunder” as this site claimed.

    2) Kelly, you may want to have someone proof your posts: “win on for free”?

wow…that was fast…first comment and you already picked up my error. I noticed it right after I posted it and wondered how long it would take for someone to pick up on it.. :-)

I guess we now know when the phone is launching. From the contest T’s and C’s:

“Text entries: Send an SMS stating ’storm’ to 83669 by 23.55 on 25.10.08.
In-store entries: Enter at a Vodafone Store by 25.10.08. Speak to store adviser about entry”

For those not familiar with european date conventions, that’s October 25th. BTW, contest is open only to people in the UK.

The site actually says it is giving a total of 20 away! The contest ends on October 25th with the drawing on October 28th.

I wonder if these dates coincide with the launch dates?

Unfortunately (for me, at least) the drawing is only open to UK residents.

C’mon VZW, how ’bout a similar contest here!! (heck, forget the contest….just release the phone already!)

Welcome BGR…finally one of my tips made it. Yea the dummy units tip was sent in as well but I guess BGR is selective and only chooses those that it deems noteworthy, which is good I guess. I wish had the same contest here cause I tried the Vodafone one and was a$$ed out when it didn’t go through lol. Side note…I’m glad Verizon did not take the same approach as Vodafone and placed its logo on the back instead of on the front of the device. It looks a lot more appealing and less tacky that way.
