Telus HTC Touch Pro pricing, release date, and comparison shots

One of our faithful ninjas has sent in some info about Telus’ upcoming HTC Touch Pro release. According to our guy, the handset should launch sometime this week, which is in line with other reports. When it drops, expect to pay $299 on a 3 year contract, jumping to a whopping $549 on a 2 year bid, $599 on a 1 year contract, and $649 shackle free. This pricing is comparable to Telus’ current BlackBerry 8830 structure, placing the new HTC model in direct competition with the aging ‘Berry. Finally, we’ve got some comparison shots between the Telus Touch Pro and the handset it’s replacing, the HTC P4000/Mogul/6800. Nothing groundbreaking here, but it does help to illuminate the fact that the Touch Pro is a slightly smaller than its predecessor. Hit the jump for another couple of images.
Thanks, rileysfreeman and kjb_ninja

Very nice. Now, any news on when Bell is getting it ?
Adi
I can’t wait for the Sprint release.
Here’s hoping the news about it coming to the AT&T network late October is for real…
Wow that’s just straight retarded. Those prices are insane why is telus jumping on the rogers bandwagon? Ripping there customers off. it only cost about under $100 to manufacture in china.
well its only a 100$ more than the p4000 when u considered the smaller size the accelerometer. someone has said the cdma model will maintain the TV OUT. the touchflo video acceleration youtube it kinda makes sense
yo, TELUS sux. end of discussion!
I was at the Telus Eaton Center store and I saw a tag on display for the Htc Touch Pro. When I asked about it the rep said Telus is not getting the Pro and that tag is for the recently released Touch Dual. I think the rep did not know what she was talking about as the specs on the tag were clearly that of the Touch Pro and pricing was lower than mentioned in this article. I took some pics for evidence will try to upload and post a link soon.
Here are the pictures I took of the HTC Touch Pro tag that I found in the Telus store. I uploaded them to photo bucket.

This is ridiculous i was considering maybe getting this but at this price and if they are asking for 3 years commitment this is insane!
I mean its like marriage …. 3 years of commitment is a little overboard !
No Way Jose!
ok,who ever is not happy with the phone prices.those phones (pda)’s r 800 dollars & up.TELUS gets a deal & pays for the phones ,gives it away as a laoner on a 3 year contract so that u won’t get the phone & leave next day.it’s their right to do so.rogers obliged you to take a 90 dollars plan with their crappy iphone. check htczs websites min the phones cost 800 dollars & up. TELUS needs @ least 2 years to replace every phone it gives away.the last year will be a profit to the company.who else gives u a phone? eh?
Spoken like a true Telus rep Sevag. Lol
I hope the pics Ruthless took are true and it’s only $50 more to buy outright then the Diamond, I may just wait to get the pro
honestly it looks like a mistake to me too. ive had 3 different sources all cliam the pricing i provided to bgr. that is why she probably said the pricing was a mistake. but one of my sources did say he felt the price was too high so may be a an error. anyways well find out in the next day or 2
I cant wait for the ATT release of the Phone and as for the pricing, I’ve got money to spend.
I guess the pro will be more then the pics that Ruthless caught, cause just found out the raised the price of the Diamond to $499.
Future Shop’s flyer for October 10-23 has the HTC Touch Pro on page 19 here in BC.
Pricing: 239.99 on a 3 year plan and a $50 gift card thrown in.
Telus doesn’t have it listed in their website and a call to them says it is not available yet. My dealer also says not yet.
A call to Future Shop reveals that they don’t actually have stock yet either.
In actual fact, all Telus dealers were told earlier today Oct. 16th, to put away all periphenelia pertaining to the Touch Pro until it’s official release. This, and Future Shop’s gaff, makes me believe that the Touch Pro may be further away then expected. Perhaps even November…but that’s just coming from a dealer’s point of view. Too bad, because I can’t wait for it.
I was just in my local Best Buy store and the HTC Touch Pro is on the shelf! No contract pricing. They have stock sitting there in the locked cabinet below the displays…..
$649.00
I called Telus right from the store and they couldn’t find it in their catalog and they are upgrading their system so they couldn’t access my account either.
Now on 25 and still can’t buy Touch pro at Telus.
Just called and it seems it’s ETA is mid-late November and their plan pricing will change as well. So if you’re interested in getting the $50 student plan, then do so before November 4th.
ur retarted. if everybody selling its stuff as cost. how can they make money? it is just normal for a company selling the phone not as cost, it is not ripping customer off, it is just natural.
Called Future Shop and they said they expect it to be available for sale this week…?
I believe that the plans will change before november second… that is when the Pro is suppose to be released in sprint stores…but who knows?…best buy already has it for sprint…299.99 after a two year contract…plus i think that rewards memebers get a 20 percent off before the first..go figure
This morning 9am PT Telus released new pricing sheets which included some new unrelesed phones and their prices, the Touch Pro was not one of them.
The manager of a Telus Connect store yesterday guaranteed me it would be out in two weeks max. They had the display models in store, ready to be put out, she said they were just waiting on a final date.
I’d hate to pay $300, and then a year later have a whole new bunch of better phones come out when TELUS provides GSM service. I like the idea of GSM because then I can have a work phone, a beater phone, a travel phone etc whilst keeping the one GSM card.
Maybe I should just keep my HTC Touch until then? What do you think? Yeah, I hate typing on the screen, that’s why I like the keyboard – but I can live with it. Advice?
