Sprint launches XOHM WiMax in Baltimore
Sprint announced on Monday the launch of its XOHM Wimax service in Baltimore. Starting today, customers can purchase XOHM-branded hardware and sign up for $25 per month at home Internet service, $30 per month mobile service or pay $10 for one full day of “On-the-Go” access. For those who want more than one device, Sprint is also offering a $50 per month “Pick 2 for Life” plan that allows for 2 WiMax enabled devices – no contract required. Yay! 4G = 2-4Mbit download speeds??? WTF???
3G HSDPA in germany is 7.2Mbit download… and you really get 7Mbit download speed!

i guess wimax is widely considered 3G across the world, but known to us as 4G. I will have to agree though when LTE comes it will be true 4G. But until then it wouldnt hurt to go WiMAX now, and switch over to LTE when its available..
I’m sure the speeds will only go up. Great speeds for a mobile though and can’t beat a no contract monthly price. Wimax iPod touch anyone??
Let the poor americans think they are best we in Europe have had 3G speeds for ages and here is as if they now invented the mobile phone. hahahahaha.
Wimax, like LTE has a theorhetical speed of 170mbps… sprint is only launching, where as germany 3G has been out for 7 years.

you can’t even get anything like this in the US and people still complain. Probably an LTE/iPhone fanboy…i wonder if the fact that said “i” device still cannot get speeds close to Verizon,Sprint Rev A, let alone WiMax/LTE crosses his mind.
3G network has been available both on CDMA and GSM in the US for years. I am not sure about Germany’s speed but Sprint/Verizon had the 3G CDMA available for years now. The 4th Generation network (4G) has been implemented with this WiMax and we will see how the market holds up. The rest of the world is following with the WiMax and some countries have already implemented it. In the US, we care about quality than rushing to make the product available then clean up the mess after the release. US got the quality and the rest of the world has crap.
