Blackberry Bold release date at Best Buy

One of the biggest questions on everyone’s mind (well, almost everyone) is: when the hell is the Bold coming to the U.S.? Well, we got our hands on this image showing a release date of October 26, 2008 in Best Buy’s system. That means it will likely be out a week or two before it hits this authorized AT&T retailer (early October, anyone?) So, for everyone who’s been harassing AT&T reps and customer service, you can relax a little knowing it’s going to be coming out much sooner than later. Perhaps it will follow the HTC Touch Diamond when they released it a week earlier than it was scheduled. Only time will tell, but we’re feeling the force is strong with this one. We were told to expect pricing “around $600.” Hit the break for a larger shot!

Thanks, A.D.

I think RIM handled this poorly. If the device wasn’t ready, they should have kept quiet. To say for months that its coming and not give a release date is ridiculous.

If its the network, then AT&T needs to get their act together.

You guys are bunch of pussies who keep bashing BG about anticipated release dates or changes in the release dates. If you don’t like his sources, go jerk off to some other website. I have my own RIM insiders, and they sometimes are wrong as well. Shit all depends on carriers!!!

Best Buy usually releases phones two weeks after the phones official release with the carrier. They did the exact same thing when the Verizon Voyager came out…so expect AT&T to release the phone weeks before…Yay! The Bold is finally coming!!! Oh by the way, I saw the Bold covers too at my local Best Buy too…I bought the pink jelly cover…

    That ATT Guy says:

only one year into your contract, this will not qualify you for the full discounted price on the phone. the 2yr pricing is available to customer that are between 21-24 into their contract(some exceptions for higher rev rate plans). HOWEVER if you are at least 6 months into your current contract, you are eligible for an early upgrade in which you receive a $125 discount instead of the $200 for resigning your contract. sooo ur bold will cost $75 more…

awesome news! Not very familiar with how this works but if I get the Bold at Best Buy, can I sign my At&T contract there too or would I have to actually get the Bold + service package at a physical ATT store? in which case, can i say a tentative oct 2 or 3rd date?

Isn’t it true, we will have to see Promotion for the Bold at least 2 weeks before it actually comes out?. That would mean, Oct 2nd is a pipe dream…. :(

all these bold fiends see Oct 26th and don’t realize that best buy is authorized dealer no a free standing store ATT so they don’t usually carry phones the day they come out online or in ATT stores

People are excited because if Best Buy gets it the 26th, It would have had to have been released prior to that.

Re: the jelly cases in Best Buy. You’ll notice that it says “Fits BlackBerry Curve 8300, 8310, 8320 and 8330 and Bold smartphones” so it’s not like they’re actually selling Bold-specific accessories, just stretching (pun intended) their existing accessories a little further. All this does is confirms that the Bold will be released…eventually.

Agree that Best Buy usually lags the actual AT&T stores by a couple of weeks. A 2-week lag would give us a date of the 12th which is a Sunday, so unlikely for AT&T (I know BB have launched on a w/e before, but probably not AT&T). The week before that would be likely, but I’m still hoping for the 2nd… (call me sad if you like, but this is my first BB, I want WiFi and a physical keyboard, and this seems worth the wait (- it’s not like my old phone is broken and I need a new one NOW. Whenever is fine, but a concrete date would be nice…).

There is no way the same skin could fit both 8300 series & 9000 series phones. Not only are the Bold’s dimensions much closer to the 8800, the camera is in a dif place as well.

$679.99 is a bit steep for the BOLD. I could see $500 or $500 but damn near $700 is crazy.
