BeeJive IM goes live on the App Store
We told you it was coming, folks. It’s finally here, approved by the almighty Apple gods, and ready for your download. We’ll keep this short and sweet; we standby our previous article where we said this is hands down the best IM application for the iPhone. So go check it out and report back, we know you’ll be pleasantly surprised after the disastrous duo of IM+ and Palringo.

ok, just purchased beejive, its pretty stable. been using it for about 5 minutes with no problems. It isnt leaps ahead of palringo or IM+ until full push notifications is introduced. All im apps will be hindered by this until 2.2 firmware. That been said, it has nice features including landscape view and a really kick ass interface. Instant messaging has been perfected for the iphone
There is a thread going on over at http://www.everythingihone.com about how expensive it is and it should be cheaper.
I bought it for the BB and it would be nice to transfer my key over to the iPhone. Has anyone contacted them to ask if they would do this?
Imagine how blackberry users feel. Luckily, I got my user license for $15 even.
They must be outside of their minds charging 16 bucks for an IM app. I’d pay 5 MAYBE 10 bucks TOPS.
….As a matter of fact, now that I think about it, even the X-Plane port is only 10 bucks. Ehhh…I’ll stick with Palringo and CO.
I have beejive for the blackberry and it is worth every penny. The updates are free. From the time I first bought til now it has improved a lot too. You can even send and receive files on the blackberry version and if you remove the file limit option you can transfer mp3 files over wifi/edge/3g whatever floats your boat.
So is 16 dollars a lot to pay for an app with free updates for the rest of your life?
Who said this does nothing better than Palringo? You’re joking, right? Palringo cuts off a ton of text! So, if my friend IMs me and says, “Hey Man, we’re going to Magnolia Bar tonight,” all I can see is, “Hey Man, we’re going to Ma.” Palringo is great.
IM+ is free and does the same altho probably not as pretty as this one is right now. 16.00 is what the developer thinks its worth, you might not. Maybe they should have let the first 1000 free to get some reviews?
“But if you’re on it constantly …” you say? If you are on it constantly, then you surely are not doing anything else on the 1Phone (one thing at a time, that is).
Well I paid $29.99 for this application on my BB so it’s well worth $16 on the iPhone.
It’s not the app isn’t worth $16, it *may* very well be. However, the AppStore market will not support a $16 IM app, no matter how great. It will be limited in success to a few people that value IM greatly. Eventually they’ll be forced to lower the price. Mark my words.
Anyone figure out the BB to iPhone key transfer question yet?
Only $16? I’m downloading now. I’m anticipating support for image sending…let’s see if it’s added in the future.
too much $$. like to have a good im but not at that price.
So I got it. It’s leaps and bounds over anything else. I think its well worth the money.
i caved in like the asshole i am lol
its good, idk about $16, good but its pretty good.
@gadgetchic
There you go! Knew you’d cave…

Yup, I was so disappointed with AIM, that I had deleted it from my iPhone. Once I read this post, I decided to drop $16 on it and I love it. The multi chat option is sweet. and the push notifications via mobile me are great. Will never look back.
BTW, I have dropped that type of money on beer. Just saying….
still waiting on a response from support. It does not seem like theres a way to transfer the key tho. Theres no activiation like on the BB, so I’m assuming no transfer.
As for the app, its cool, I am not to sure it game changing like Jive was to the BB, but the Push notification work around is pretty crafty. I would say Jive has again set the bar for IM clients on another mobile platform.
Funny. The writers from the site sound like advertisements for the iPhone (AT&T and everything Apple) and everything that goes with it. Oh…I forgot who actually pays for the upkeep of the site. I also find it amazing that the statement “If you think it’s too expensive, then IM isn’t important to you” came from the ringleader. Didn’t realize you’re also an authority on importance and spending habits. I guess everything prior to the release of this app. wasn’t considered an important IM tool. I’m a fan of ‘Apple’, but not at the expense of others.
free, free, free, $15.99, free…wait, $16? wtf? No thanks.
@bluehorseshoe
Honestly dude, enough with the AT&T/Apple shit. Maybe you’re too stupid and ignant to notice, but Apple and AT&T aren’t even advertisers on this site, and if you see an AT&T ad, it’s not placed direct. $16 is not a lot of money for a piece of well-made software. For christ sake the BlackBerry version is $30 and you’re bitching about $16? Why? Because you’re used to the peasant apps for $0.99? Grow up. If you can’t afford $16 then that’s fine, but don’t pretend that it’s too much money for a quality application.
Am i the only one who hasnt had any problems on Palringo? I havent had the “shortened” texts, nor any weird disconnects.
Maybe occassionally it needs a little coaxing to login.
(Im using one aim and one gadu-gadu login)
Any word if this will support gadu gadu?
@bluehorseshoe – easy there cowboy.
BG and the BGR crew offer up a bread and a variety flavored butter, so to speak. If you don’t like the flavor, you can always butter your bread someplace else.
Heck, if it really bothers you that the crew busts off too much Apple, ATT, (insert gadget, provider, opinion of choice here…) content, hit up another site that doesn’t charge as much as BGR does to read said content…. {sarcasm alert… :- }
Just bustin’ chops.
@ BGR
Is that the best you’ve got? And who said anything about advertising such as direct ads or banner ads? We’re talking about behind the scenes and why everything seems so pro Apple/AT&T when you post articles pertaining to either company. I’m not the only one here that has pointed out the obvious.
As for the BB, I run the 4 different IM apps at no cost via VZW…AIM, Yahoo, GTalk, MSN. Zero cost. All work perfectly fine. Does that make me or anyone else less serious if we didn’t spend the $16 for consolidation, if everyone even uses more than one or two IM apps?
Honestly, I’ve enjoyed reading your stuff the day you started this site, and while you may still pull out inside info on releases, etc. which I still enjoy, I find that much of the writing pertaining to certain companies is with bias. Professionals write without bias.
