yeah, i know that, but wouldn’t be great, just GREAT! if that phone came to t-mobile, after all T-mobile is the one carrier dropping touchscreen phones by the truckload this end of the year, it never hurts to dream that the Xperia will be t-mobile although it WOULD ME UNLIKELY, but hey dreaming is free, right?

Both the X1 and Touch HD would be the best phones out if they were offered in Winmo & Android versions.

Then it would only come down to whether you wanted a keyboard or touch screen.

Sadly this dream will not come true in the U.S.

@Who?: Windows Mobile is just as half-baked. That and its clunky, bloated and just plain old. The “start menu” on the phone and even the OS is just plain 10 years ago. Today we need a new interface and feeling. Sure, you can “skin” WinMo – but that’s like putting lipstick on a pig!

Sure, it’s not ready yet and you even said yourself – the phone isn’t even close to being released which means they have time to finish cooking Android.

As for Exchange – eh, bummer but hey, it is probably only a matter of time before it does support Exchange. And its not like the launch date is feverishly approaching.

This is pathetic. The phone isn’t even close to being released and people want a half-baked OS to go on it? For instance, Experia is supposed to be an enterprise phone, but Android doesn’t support Exchange.

What’s so amazing about Android besides the fact that it’s from Google, which people think is “cool” because it isn’t Microsoft or Apple, even though it’s just as, if not more, powerful?

If this is true…screw G1 and iPhone…this is my next phone. I’ve wanted Xperia forever, but hated the fact it ran windows mobile. So this bit of news is making my day!

Ralph De La Vega said he wasn’t against android. They just didn’t want to be part of the alliance. It’s the same with Verizon. They want to see how well the phones work on T-Mo & Sprints networks before committing to anything.

SE did not “just” announce they were open to the idea of multiple OSs on its Xperia range. They said this all the way back in February.

But an X-series Android device would be interesting.

Can someone explain why Android OS will be cool on this phone? Android appears to be inferior to any mainstream OS in terms of the features and capabilities. Also, it currently has no application support – a huge disadvantage. I will understand excitement about having WM7 on this phone, but Android? Isn’t it like yanking an engine out of brand-new Ferrari and replacing it with 4 cylinder from a ‘89 Pontiac?

We can only wait and hope that even if Sony decides not to embrace Android some clever soul out there can get it to run on Xperia. Part of me thinks that may be the coolest feature of the OS, its ability to be put on just about anything. I mean, if someone can put it on a blackberry, does that mean I’d have a blackdroid or an androberry?
