AT&T’s Pantech Matrix gets viewed and spec’d

Hated the Pantech Duo but loved the form-factor? Well, AT&Tizzle is looking to grab you as a potential customer with the Pantech Matrix. It uses the same dual-slide mechanism as the Duo, but sadly runs Pantech’s run-of-the-mill OS. There are at least some decent features here. Things like dual-band UMTS/HSDPA, a 1.3 megapixel camera, Bluetooth, Video Share, a QWERTY keyboard and numeric keypad. You even get to choose your own color; red, blue, or black. That seals the deal for us. We’ll be first in line. If you’re ferocious enough, hit the jump for the full product sheet!

i’m glad at&t will be releasing a good form factor without a PDA OS. It’s a hard sell for us sales folks to convince EVERY SINGLE PERSON they need a $30.00 pda feature! Now AT&T(they are my employer so no ‘izzle’) has a phone to compete with the Voyager/ENV/Rumor/Scoop/Sidekick without needing an extra package. Us tech people like our smart phones but average Joe and his daughter wants a ‘textin phone’.

I agree w/you Jeremy. I hate selling blackberries to 10 year olds. The duo is stupid expensive also. There really aren’t any decent options for texting phones like you said. I can’t wait to get this thing (to sell it). Hopefully it’s cheap.

To all the haters out there >>>>>> blahhhhh. This is a great thing for at&t. Its great to see that they are joining the text with no pda party. Pantech ( as a at&t sales person ) has been a rock solid phone builder. The c3 line and the breeze both have had less issues than any Lg, Samsung or Nokia.
I too am WAITING for the Bold!!!! But the parents out there are not wanting to do pda or blackberry packs for their kids in this troubling economic time.

    GO PANTECH!

I am excired to see it launch

Wow I agree with you, only 3 (Three) hours talk time? IF this IS aiming for the younger text / talk happy teens, that would be aggrivating.

i agree with jeremy. Everyone txt on their phone then use it for voice calls. Hopefully at&t will sell the phone at a lower price point. And many teenagers and kids should get this phone

The matrix is coming with a $50 MIR which generally puts the phone cost between $100-$250 before rebate.

Actuallllllyyyy, this ISN’T a bad phone…A much better move from the duo. I work for at&t and my co-worker and I took this out of the box, the first day to play with it and WOW. Once you slide it out, it literally takes a millisecond to change from potrait to landscape. A much improvement from the lag that windows mobile gave it before. They should have never put a WM OS on a pantech crap processor. It really gave pantech phones a bad rap. That is all =]
