Sony Ericsson prepping new 5MP phone, codename ‘Kate”
A few photos of a new 5MP Sony Ericsson Cybershot have been leaked by Cellphonesail. The new phone appears to be similar to the current C902 Cybershot with updated software (Java Platform 8.4, also on their much anticipated, much delayed 8MP C905). The mid-range phone is expected to have the following specs:
- 5 megapixel Camera with Xenon Flash, Auto Focus, and Smile Shutter
- No front camera for video calling
- Switch button between Still & Video as well as a button to access gallery of images you just taken
- No GPS
- EDGE/UMTS/HSDPA (at least)
- Sony Ericsson’s Java Platform 8.4
We may see this phone announced sometime in October and released by the end of the year (we wont hold our breath) for about €300 ($450). Enjoy!

These companies got it all wrong, a high resolution camera on a phone has never been a killer feature, it’s always been more about the size of the phone. A 5mp camera does me no good on a phone cause i already have a 12mp one at home, so no way am getting a phone the size of a sidekick just cause it was a 5mp camera instead of 2or 3
ideally I want a phone that can replace 8.1 mp quick shot type of camera, that can get email, has a keyboard (real or touchscreen), and that can play a shit ton of MP3s, is it really that hard to do? Jesus……..
