Some screen shots from Vodafone-branded Blackberry Storm emerge

Some purported screen shots of Vodafone-branded Blackberry Storm have emerged today. If you believe what you see is for real, then you may be a bit disappointed. The resolution on the screen is quite nice but the interface, well, looks just like a Blackberry. Should we be surprised by that? The calendar, email, and browser look incredibly text-based for a touchscreen device that promises to take the world by Storm. Where are all the pretty icons that we can tap on? Let’s hope these images are only a small sample and the rest of the UI is significantly better than what is shown. Otherwise, this is one Storm that may just go out to sea. Hit the jump for some more pictures.

Thanks, Matt!

Seriously, you think it looks bad and text based? I was expecting a 7290 interface. Looks good to me, can’t wait. Keyboard looks much better than what BrewNinja was showing…

Anyway, that virtual keypad is hideous. My god, my eyes are burning.

I’m not sure why you’re disappointed with the screen shots. The spreadsheet function looks great, well, compared with my 8703 anything would look better, but seriously, the photos just re-emphasize that this device will be as advertised. Since I can only use a BB for work, I’ll definitely wait to get the Storm, than pick up the Bold.

But you’re typing on the different keys just like a touchpanel right, not highlighting and “click” on specific letters, right?

Basically think of how the iPhone works with the capacitive touch screen (no force necessary) and combine that with an actual “push”. Little awkward in my opinion and probably will get tiring.

The pic with the Ferarri says 1XEV! I thought this was the Vodafone model. The network indicator tells me this is a VZW9530, unless the Voda model is CDMA for US roaming.

I really have no idea what the problem is with this site and the storm. This phone looks great. Who cares at all if the alphabet that you push isn’t pretty enough. Have you seen the key pad on the iphone. It has letters that you push then the little letters show up on the screen. If the storm does that then it is good enough. The bottom line is it has everything great in a blackberry plus a bunch of new toys that bb didn’t used to have. Maybe we should make the letters float around screen in 3d at random in the clouds so that the keyboard looks sexy. Who cares that it would be hard to use.

@ INC–> BG only wishes he could get his hands on one of these. He’s done enough RIM bashing and Apple Ass-kissing he’s probably dis-owned. Back to subject at hand, God forbid if for some reason the Storm isn’t as flashy as the Iphone. That means it sucks. Spare me. People haven’t even used it and say it sucks already. Hell, it already has quite a few functions/abilities that the beloved Iphone doesn’t. But that isn’t good enough. It’s screen res kicks the Iphones ASS up and down Broadway, but that’s not good enough either. You guys are pathetic….

God forbid you have to actually select what you are typing. What a stupid idea!! Are you guys kidding? You get more ridiculous with each post. You pick the worst details to bash. A calendar with text? no way! I have to use text for emails? What a stupid idea!

You guys really are apple ass kissers. I’ve tried to give you the benefit of the doubt, but it just keeps going and going and going.

I think the “click/push” feature is very intuitive! I hate when I accidentally hit a button that I didn’t want to press and this feature on the Storm is going to prevent that problem. BG, you said that it might get tiring pushing on the screen. I really think you’ll be wrong in this case because I never heard of anyone complain about typing on a physical keypad. Oh and I don’t know what you are looking at, but I think these screen shots show that the BB has a very good look to it. IMHO, black is a lot sleeker than a boring gray theme(*cough* iPhone *cough*). Don’t get me wrong, iPhone has some parts of the interface that have sleekness to it, but most of it is pretty dull.

…. Now, I’ll just wait for all the Apple fanboys to attack me haha :D

Ummm if these pictures are all from the Vodafone version why is one of the screen shots have 1xEV? Isn’t that EVDO and Vodafone is GSM right?

@BG Since RIMM hasn’t given the details yet… how can you think that RIMM won’t have a feature that can let you turn off the use of the “click” and just allow the consumer have two options? If they do that then lets the phone have a wider range of consumers. 2 options compared to 1, would be awesome, which I don’t know why RIMM wouldn’t do it. If they limit it to the “click”, thats just choking the wide range of consumers they could get. RIMM is smart enough to know that, and I have no doubt that you can choose if you want to use it all the time or just use touch.

@Ethan - Right on. I expect RIM to give you a choice on having to “click” the screen. In some literature I read there were 3 keyboards–click, non-click and suretype.
