Verizon “wows” us with the Storm

Engadget today got a hold of an internal memo that tries to “wow” us with the features of the Blackberry Storm. Intended for NDA eyes only, the document reveals most of the specs for the phone. Lets see what we have now for the Storm:
- 3.25-inch WITH 480 x 360 display (putting it slightly above the Bold)
- EV-DO Rev. A
- Quadband GSM/GPRS/EDGE
- 2100MHz UMTS/HSPA
- 1GB onboard memory
- Full QWERTY (landscape) and Suretype Input (portrait)
- High Capacity microSD slot
- 3.2 MP camera with auto-focus, flash, and 2X Zoom
- Blackberry Device Software 4.7
- OTA Software Loading
- HTML Browser with support for attachment downloads and video streaming (via RTSP)
- Editing of Microsoft Word, Excel, and Powerpoint documents
- Standalone and aGPS (does that mean, GASP, GPS is unlocked?)
- Blackberry Media Sync (non-DRM iTunes media sync)
- Visual Voicemail (available post-launch, bummer!)
- Built-In Facebook/Flikr Support
- Built-In IM support for Yahoo, Google, AOL, and Windows Messenger
- Access to services such as BroadbandAccess, VZ navigator, VCast Music and Video, and VCast MobileTV
Wow! (yes we said it admittedly falling into Verizon’s marketing ploy). No date or pricing yet but we will keep you updated.

No WiFi is a major downer.
Anyone got a price point?
yep just noticed the Mobile Tv part, that would definitely make this a killer package if it turns out to be true
WiFi is a MAJOR battery drain. I keep it turned off and don’t really use it.
I’m asking me if will see this device released really soon. I haven neither seen any development tools for it nor the 4.7 API.
VCast Mobile TV? Really? I wonder if this phone will have full on Get-It-Now features.
I’m happy to see that at least the battery door is stainless- not cheap plastic like other phones.
no wifi??? y??
I just hope the browsing experience is at par with Apples. I am in no way an iphone fan, and all the way blackberry but this is my only concern
Lets face it nobody does it better than Blackberry and the only thing lacking is a better browser. Fingers Crossed!
@mangenius
Rumor from HoFo said it has the same browser experience as Safari, without tab support and without Flash support. Just a rumor, though, we will have to wait and see.
I agree with you about the browser. I sold my curve b/c I was frustrated with the poor browser.
this phone makes me think twice about getting the blackberry bold
its no iphone
@Steve G
no, its better!
LOL, sorry but I couldn’t resist.
this powerpoint took forever to leak which is surprising its dated the 15th so im guessing that this isnt this weeks “weekly” info we’ve been promised
Does this phone have an accelometer? If not, you suck, my brother. 3.25 inch screen? Hmmm…
Iphone is 3.5 inch screen, and people complain about how small keyboards are. May force be with you, brotherrrr!
BlackBerry Bold, Javelin, or Storm… decision, decision.
Dem Niggas up north gotta stop letting VznWrlss rape em in the brown spot after a good ole one eye lollipop pleasure. No Wi-Fi means dem brownies gonna brown noise the mofos in the states outta more greenies after a white drenched bath; nice swish and swallow experiment. that sheit whack.
Punk azz bios better recognize the importance of a good Wi-Fi and stop their rainbow escapades.
I thought the iphone didn’t have flash support, and the storm does have it, especially considering how it will have video streaming.
“Standalone and aGPS (does that mean, GASP, GPS is unlocked?)”
Come on BG, this IS Verizon Wireless we’re talking about. You KNOW there’s no chance.
yawn
Looks fat but it’s not. Only 13.9mm, thinner than a touch diamond.
@DavidB: I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again–standalone GPS is UNLOCKED. That means BlackBerry Maps will work outta the box. That means photo geotagging will work outta the box. That means any app written for JSR-179 and the RIM SDK will work outta the box.
I was talking to a buddy of mine at verizon and he said that they were told to expect the storm the second week in november. I don’t know if i believe it or not.
Is the volume/zoom button on the side possibly going to be used for zooming in/out on web pages or is it just for camera zooming?
the lg dare zooms on webpages with the volume toggle, so i would really really hope the storm would
