Google G1 screenshots galore

Looking for a bit of Google G1 goodness to hold you over until T-Mobile’s announcement later tomorrow this morning? We’ve got you covered. An eagle-eyed reader spotted these promo shots on T-Mobile’s G1 site, giving us a bit of a sneak preview of the world’s first commercially available Android-based device. The desktop shot looks roughly similar to the Android desktop shots that we’ve seen from the beginning, with a collection of customizable widgets that display a variety of at-a-glance info and access to commonly used applications. The presence of a MyFaves icon ensures compatibility with T-Mobile’s unlimited calling service. The next screen shot gives a bit of a look into the Maps application, though it doesn’t reveal a whole lot of useful info. We do see reference to, YouTube, Gmail, and GCal, but Google Application interfacing is no secret. Finally, we’ve got a look at both the browser and the landscape mode for image viewing. Again, nothing revolutionary, though the browser does appear to be formatted similarly to Google’s iPhone-specific mode. Hit the jump for the final two shots, and hold on to your hats folks. 10:30 AM EST is almost upon us.

Thanks, Nigel!

I guess expectations were too high??
NO Wifi, NO stereo bluetooth, NO VGA, NO video recording, on the heavy side at 5.6 ounces?, only 5hrs talk? How can they really compete with other HTC phones?

It is ugly. At least in the shots. And it looks “plasticy”. But it’s the features and functionality I am looking forward to. As long as the build quality isn’t as poor as it looks I can accept the odd looks.

Xman. It will have WiFi. And will have a video recording app. Just like the iPhone it does not have video “out of the box.” But, a thing to remember is that Google will not shut down recording apps.

Roger. I agree it isn’t too pretty. But, I will take it over an iPhone due to these reasons:

    1 – real keyboard
    2 – no Apple-esk crackdown on apps
3 – Google is more reliable than Apple for updates.

    To each is own.

    Cheers,

    Spencer

How about this. . . how about everyone wait until the device is, you know, RELEASED? Would that be so difficult?

What is your definition of “galore?” Or is there like 50 more screen shots that are hidden someplace?

I find the G1 to look much better than alot of phones on market especially one particular spy shot that had it looking much sleeker than the photos I’m seeing now would have one believe. I’ll buy it for the new experience it will bring. Alot of what it’s lacking can be fixed with updates but no wifi?

Why doesn’t everyone get real. No one has used it, yet everyone has an oppinion. Only time will tell, what I do know is, I will own the phone, yeah my poor curve will be in the hands of another, but I don’t have any doubts this phone will rival, and I wouldn’t be surprised if it puts the iPhone back in the Mp3 category. Having a tactial keyboard is huge,(all you iPhone users know what I’m talking about). And having normal controls will be nice too. (I bet it will copy/past) anyone wanna put some money on that one… Stereo bluetooth is nice, but I can do without, truth is only 9.25 hrs left, only time will tell whether or not it will rank with the other PDAs, I will let you know later when I own one…

I think we can all say that T-Mobile will continue even in 3G world, to provide its customers with the most ugliest phones on the market.

and you know this how? omnipotent? as was said a couple posts up, no one has gotten a chance to play with it yet, it may grow on you…

love all the “I know it all” attitudes, so far everything has been based off presumptions.

Oh come on….I have an iPhone and a HTC Mogul both are good at what they do but all of you guys saying this will be better than this or that. If any one of you think that this VERY FIRST Android based phone is not gonna come out of the gate buggy as hell (like anything new) and is gonna be in anyway better than WinMo or Apple are just stupid. Why are Windows and OSX still more popular than Linux people? Why dont we see a bunch of Symbian phones rollin around? If you want ease of use get an iPhone (if you wanna really play with it jailbreak). If you want crazy programs that open your blinds and scramble your eggs get the touch pro and check out xdadevelopers.com. Are you really gonna use google maps with street view that much to risk buying the G1? Sure Android will be great in two years but in a world of high tech stick with the people who this phone is trying to imitate when dropping 200+.

Haha people saying “it will feel weird in your hand”. Oh yeah, bottom row of buttons, top is the touch screen, we don’t ever see that do we? (Xperia/TouchPro/Diamond). It will be fine functionally, what you think of the looks is your deal, but if it was out for AT&T I’d consider it just for Android.
