hi!, I know it’s been a while since the last comment, but I was wondering… mmm.. what if where I am there’s no wifi?… I’m used to check internet anywhere with the gprs intstead of the wifi… So my question is: Is it possible to enter the www when there’s no signal… something like… to use the gprs and then when there’s wifi use it??..
I don’t really care that much about speed, as long as I can browse!… so… I’m thinking about choosing the renoir or either the cookie… quite different… and similar… what would you recommend?! thanks!

2. A phone is not always of excellent features,it must also include a sleek design,high resolution,excellent GUI. this phone doesn’t have anything except for the camera!!!!

Ipod was successful mainly due to it’s hip marketing skills of the product, where they created an image where ipod users are hip and cool… Some products are not arguably better (but with heftier price tag too). Iphone had a long line up because of it is ipod’s very first/second phone and there was a great hype for most people to showcase it off. Their UI and OS is great, but it is horrible for third party programs that is not approved since they want people to only use software designed by them to juice more money out of the user. On the other hand Windows Mobile phones sure are more complicated, but they too get the work done. As of current day the hardware for newer WinMo phones such as the HTC Touch Pro, Samsung I900 Omnia has superior hardware (imo) than the iphone. Only thing that I see iphone is better than any WinMo phone is all the useless functions and settings in there where 95% of it’s users will not even touch….

I wonder how Android is going to compare to the Mac’s OS and WinMo in the long run…. lol

We all know the biggest weakness of the Iphone is AT&T, but the device as a phone is not the best either. Sure, Apple cornered the touchscreen market since Palm dropped the ball, but true business users at the end of the day have not been fooled, nor have the execs that decide what device its management and employees should be using. I agree with “Likeabite”, loyal Apple users attempt to fool us about Apple products. Windows may have its share of problems, but Apple products still restrict the distance you can travel. Consumer wise you can browse the internet with ease; business wise you can’t copy and paste! Makes not sense which is why I stay away from most things apple. Since the invention of the micro SD card, my Ipod is virtually useless.

This thing is ugly.. Unbelievably ugly.. Seriously, could all these companies employ someone with some taste and good ideas? Pay them through the roof and get a good, solid product.. But no, they just use their developers to come up with ugly UIs.. What is so special about Apple that they have such good UIs? They are not from a different planet, I guess..

I’m not an Apple fanboy, quite the opposite, actually. I will never buy Mac, will never buy music from iTunes, BUT I bought iPhone after playing with it, after seeing how much thought has been put into the UI and tight integration of everything there is in the phone. Yes, it does not have good camera and does not record video, does not have A2DP and BT file transfer (which sucks), does not have GPS and good software for it (I have an unlocked 1G iPhone). And I hate iTunes and the crappy way of backing up and synchronizing my data. But guess what? Only few times in the last year I thought about using GPS and BT file transfer. Other things like video or 10MP pictures I never use and don’t care about – I prefer devices that do that well – cameras and camcoders. I barely listen to the music and barely play movies on it, but it’s a nice way to entertain yourself on a plane. I use it as a phone and to send SMS, to keep my calendar and e-mail, sometimes web.. That’s about it. I wish it had more little things here and there, but I’ve installed bunch of 3rd party apps after jailbreaking it and they work pretty good – I’ve got games and themes and few useful apps. Sometimes they crash, but I don’t care – I’m used to intermittent crashes on devices anyway and I know that it’s impossible to have bug free software.

Would be nice to see someone coming out with “the next thing”, not a copy or variation of something that exists..

P.S. Few of my friends, real hardcode WinMo fans decided to move to iPhone after trying latest HTC devices and seeing how bad UI works, how many glitches it has and how annoying it is.. I guess until MS comes out with a product that allows great UI with less custom apps built on top, HTC, quite a great company, will keep having issues.. That’s sad.

Ballz to the Iphone…well said…if I can’t record video, send pictures to anyone or even copy and paste the I don’t want it. and Omer Bila you said it’s about infrastructure, I think it is more about brand and UI. Yes, the iphone has a great UI but the only reason it has done so well is because it is made by Apple. Loyalists flocked to AT&T to pick it up just to support and have another product made by Apple. If you look at the phone’s features as well as it’s use, it is pretty subpar to other windows mobile and smartphones out there.

No one can deny the iPhones great user interface, but other phones have their perks too. i mean, the iphones camera is extreemy crappy and takes pictures like its a 0.3 VGA camera.
Sure it has a nice screen, but its not the nicest screen on the market, nor does it have the highest resolution.
I will give it multi touch. that is a nice feature that no other company can seem to accomodate into their phones.
I think each person needs to look at what they need in a phone and decide from there. The iPhone has its ups and downs, but so does every other WM phones.
LG has really good touch interfaces for their phones. I have used the Vu, Glimmer, and Dare and they all have exceptional interfaces. It doesnt have the smoothness or the ease of the iPhone, but it is a great UI for just regular phones.

Actually, I think LG came out with the touch-screen Prada well before Apple’s Iphone.

LG have also been making touch-screen phones for ages especially for the Asian community, due to the ease of using a Stylus when writing Asian Characters. Apparently the iPhone is still crap for writing Asian characters.

I’m so sick of all you Apple/iPhone fanboys slagging off other phones. You go on endlessly about how superior the iPhone’s interface is and it’s usability, but that’s where your arguments tend to die. There are quite literally dozens of superior handsets available at the moment (e.g. the Samsung Omnia, the upcoming HTC Touch HD with it’s far superior display, Android-equipped handsets). So many phones with higher capacity storage, faster 3.5g speeds, higher megapixel cameras, A2DP, MMS, flash support, haptic feedback, optical joysticks, DVB-T, video recording, BT file transfer, etc etc etc. Despite how much you bag it, WinMo has far more user functionality and potential for expansion. It’s obvious the typical iPhone owner is a mindless sheep who is wholly susceptible to marketing and hype (I mean, how different is the 2nd gen iPhone to the 1st gen? Not a hell of a lot), and who doesn’t bother to/is incapable of doing their research first.

And as for claiming that every manufacturer is copying iPhone’s physical design – actually there were other manufacturers well before Apple who had a similar design (see older LG handsets). Besides which, can any of you fanboys think of how to massively differentiate a rectangular/widescreen form factor for a mobile phone? No??? I didn’t think so…

What a piece of junk. The fact everyone feels the need to call their knockoff an iPhone killer and the fact everyone rags on the iPhone to make it less than it is proves the iPhone is still the premier smartphone.

Nobody has the combination of applications, seamless operating system, incredible style, functionality and support of the iPhone. The 2.1 update fixed most all of the bugs and the few that remain are much less than the issues you have to deal with on any other phone.

There is only ONE iPhone, everything else falls short. Let them come, every time some fool releases a knockoff Apple gets more free press…that’s what happens when you are #1.

wow this one really looks like the iphone, lol im more than happy with my iphone 3G and of course you can expect newer phones to come out and be better than the iphone because technology changes everyday but the iphone still remains the most amazing touch screen phone with a revolutionary mobile browser and OS, and tons of apps that increase the functionality of the phone and thats why no other phone will share the success the iphone has.

iPhone killer? The iPhone is the one they’re all copying, and poorly so. But the copies do seem to be getting better. I know the iPhone has a lot of malfunctions, but it’s the general program interface and the big, high quality screen that makes it stand out. While additional hardware features are showing up in other phones like the camera in this one, manufacturers just aren’t coming up with a device that has the elegance of an iPhone and they probably won’t ever, because when other companies design devices that don’t go about it with the same goal. They try to shallowly copy the iPhone and stuff in hardware features and gimmicky software. There will always be a lot of people who will prefer the quality of the iPhone over other phones, and there will be people who prefer the specific features of other phones over the package the iPhone offers.

Yeah that’s great we can’t do anything without their permission just great. When I pay for something I want to be able to do anything with it and not relay on apple so I could use something useful for me and useless for apple(cause remember that apple recently started checking applications that get sent to the AppStore and it turns out that they throw out those applications that duplicate iPhone functions even if they do it better so in a way they’re bashing developers for doing something better than they did). This is something not worth paying for.

Yeah because dictating what ends up on your mobile phone is such a bad thing. Having software floating around that hasn’t been verified is what I want to install on my iPhone while waiting for the bus. When are people going to understand that Apples philosophy is stability much like a calculator, it just works. Windows take on it is to allow deeper customization which usually ends up in letting the customer, not the engineer, be the guinea pig just to bring in further profits and to create jobs for support and repairs. An apple represents simplicity, whereas a window represents something that can clearly break…

Actually, it is about Infrastructure. The reason the iphone is successful is not because of the phone itself, but in fact, due to the synergy between the phone and the back-end provided by iTunes. This close relationship is also what makes the ipod so successful and is the reason why more powerful MP3 players from other brands cannot compete. Remember the days when people were talking about the next ipod killer. Well, that never happened and people don’t even talk about it anymore. The ipod rules the music industry plain and simple. Now Apple is using the same strategy behind the iphone. But to return to my main point: Back-End Infrastructure is why iphone is wining, not because it is a nice phone.

Hey, Jim, it’s about user interface, not crashing and being able to use crazy things like cut and paste.

The iPhone still has the best interface but the difference between it and the new WinMo phones is negligible plus, of course, the WinMo phones don’t force you to use iTunes or dictate what you can actually put on them.
