AT&T launch updates: HTC Fuze, Samsung Mirage, Bold moved to November?

Bear with us folks. We’ve just got ahold of an AT&T product sheet dated September 17th. Also known as “the most up to date doc you’ve seen”. Before we get into the BlackBerry Bold nonsense, here’s a break down on what the sheet says:
- HTC Fuze will launch on October 23nd
- Motorola V9x (new V9 with GPS) launches on October 2nd
- Samsung Mirage i907 (basically our version of the Omnia) launches on October 21st
- Pantech C740 in red, navy, and green launches on October 14th
- Nokia 6650 launches in red and silver on October 23rd
- BlackBerry 8320 in that totally cool color launches on October 21st
- BlackBerry Pearl in pink launches on October 2nd
- The BlackBerry Curve in “burnt orange” is pushed to “2009″.
- The regular BlackBerry Curve is discontinued
- The Palm Treo 680s are discontinued
Now for the weird stuff… this sheet lists the BlackBerry Bold with a November ETA. We’re not so sure what’s going on, but we’re sticking very firm to our October 2nd launch date on AT&T. There you have it, guys! Larger image after the jump.

Ugh, ok. I wish I just knew. I’ve been waiting for this since Aug and keep going back and forth with Bold vs Nokia E71. Bold seems to be nicer hardware, E71 works much nicer with my OS of choice, Ubuntu. Hmmmm…

@Tu You said it. They’re certainly BOLDLY going where most other carriers have gone before.

I believe they keep pushing it back so none of the other carriers will be able to sell it before Christmas. Since they have the launch exclusivity of this phone, it makes perfect sense for them to do that. HOWEVER, AT&T, that move just sucks. I’m with T-Mobile and will be buying the G1, so I really don’t give a rats patootie.

Actually, the 2.1 upgrade did nothing for some users except give a visual improvement by displaying more bars when the actual signal strength was the same as the pre-2.1 upgrade.

“I believe they keep pushing it back so none of the other carriers will be able to sell it before Christmas”
I don’t think this is necessarily the reason.
Firstly, the vast majority of Bold purchases will be corporate. Those will not occur around Christmas time. Instead, corporate purchases will probably be now (after labor day) or in the new year.
Secondly, which other carrier will sell it in the US? T-Mobile is the only other GSM carrier, and as far as I know, their nascent 3G network is not supported by the current version of the Bold, so there is very little incentive to get a Bold vs. an 8820 or 8320 on T-Mo, and T-Mo will have focus on pushing the 8220 over the holidays.
As an aside, I did see something interesting on my corporate network yesterday: They listed T-Mo as possibly having the Bold by the end of Q1-2009. If my IT folks are correct, that means we’ll start seeing pre-production AWS 9000’s before the end of the year

As much as I want this phone and loved it when I played with one a month ago, I can wait. With the Diamond coming out unlocked on the 28th and the X1 sometime in between now and 09(another mystery), Ive got enough phones to choose from. I just need something to replace my dying curve ASAP.

CanisMinor made a good point. Att hasn’t actually delayed anything because they haven’t officially released any dates. These arbitrary dates are from either rumor-mongers or internal documents.

hey Marc actually check the people who actually are testing for a living. Message boards are no source of facts. Most have reported it solved the 3G issues by lowering the bandwidth requirements of the tower. Also it shows better reception for that same reason.
And yes, to post the whole article when you put the link as well as your comment to me is spam.

Hmmmm, I think it was nice of him to post the comments, the link, then a copy of the article. Makes it a lot easier for me so I don’t have to link out to the article. Just IMO.

Any possibility of the delay being a continuation of the previously noted RIM vs. ATT pissing match? Seems like ATT is trying HARD to suck end users away from the bold if this document is true. Omnia, Touch Pro, X1 - launch before the Bold? Makes no sense! Those devices will consume just as much bandwidth as the iPhone!

the Bold is the curve with a new name plus the worthless AT&T 3G people cry over. get over it

I had gotten a text from AT&T here a while ago, it said, Oct. 2nd, 2008 for a release date of the Blackberry Bold. Now, I read Nov. 2008. It’s been released in almost every 3rd world country as far as I can see,Blackberry is going to wait to long & other phone manufactures are going to pass them by. People in the United States have lost patience with this release date. I’m one step a way from picking at a different phone.

I work for AT&T, the launch date will be within SOMETIME within 3 weeks, you guys have no clue what your talking about. I see why this is called the rumor page. I had some training on the bold and you don’t even know how sick it is. How fast it is, the 3G is crazy. Think what you want, but when it does arrive don’t come crying because you went with another carrier and your craving to have the bold. Be patient you will be extremely happy.

fuck the bold…. real dudes have NOKIA E71 !

Did you really go to training? What market do you work at?

Answer this Jason Russell, since you work for AT&T; Is it true that RIM did not want to build the 3G Bold, that AT&T just had to have it?
With AT&T knowing how bad their 3G network is now we are in the never ending cycle of dates. Before you get your shorts in a wad, as you claimed this is nothing more than a rumor page, what says you? Just my two cents.

@ Marc
thanks for the message. i fully believe that’s probably why. And AT&T also loves the high profit margin the iCrap makes them. but i guess its coming back to bite them in the ass because they have to spend a billion dollars to fix the damage it created to the call towers. I have always hated the iPhone, and im glad verizon didn’t pick it up because i enjoy having fast 3G data. well i guess you fan-boys finally screwed the pooch for all the people who have for some reason stuck loyal to AT&T (probably stuck down by contracts). Well its times like these im glad i told those AT&T bastards that their customer service and reception sucks. When your ready to jump ship, at Verizon we have good customer service, and are about to have a Blackberry that will actually release before 2009.

I live in CHIcago, and i have called just about every ATT store in the city/suburbs. I did not get varying answers from sales associate. Every one of them told me that 2 weeks back they had a RIM/ATT event where all sales associates from the are attended. AT this even were RIM execs and with them they brough (get this) blackberry bolds to show the associates. AND HERE IS THE BEST PART…They ALL told me there would be a last week of Sep./First week of Oct. release in stores, and that they would all have heavy stock. So, if you want to believe information that was given to me in identicle fashion from at least 15 different sales reps from ATT (because that pretty legit) then start gettin pumped because we only have 2 weeks to go.

Ha, i’ve also called at&t locally and they have informed me its going to be in the beginning of october. im going to stay faithful untill october 2nd. if that phone is not released, i will be going to another option. this is becoming rediculos butttt if it comes out early october, it wont be as bad. i will not wait until november. stay strong bb lovers.

Mikey I really, really want to believe you and I really appreciate you sharing that with us, but the way you spelled “Identical” …

Futhermore …
The dates that the “rumor mill” have drummed up aren’t totally arbitrary … RIM’s CEO did lend some validity to them when he sad early Oct at CTIA.
Even still I understand your point Ted but the fact that ATT hasn’t given a date or any other kind of communication since May is ridiculous, Nov would make 6 months! I, for one, am fed up and won’t be moving to ATT unless this phone launches (or at least a date is announced by ATT) by the first week of Oct.
And the people who believe ATT is delaying the phone so that they can work out ALL the bugs are being naive … that never happens, ATT along with every other carrier has in the past and will continue to launch products before their firmware is ideal just look at the ATT curve, blackjack 1, iPhone 3G, Tilt … I could go on forever. There is NO WAY this phone was cleared to launch on EVERY OTHER MAJOR CARRIER IN THE WORLD but not on ATT. They all use the same 3G frequencies this delay has nothing to do with buggy software from RIM.

Anyone asking someone in an AT-T store can pretty much forget about what they are told. These guys are the lowest rung on the ladder. They get it when the get it. They are (usually) not privy to the high level scheduling info. Delays happen in a technology product world, and it takes time to disseminate the info up and then down the chain of command. The retail store floor salesman doesn’t have a clue.

I’m not waiting any longer. This is pathetic.
I got an offer for $650 cash plus an unlocked/unbranded blackberry 8320 for my iPhone 3G and I think I’m going to take it, the Bold isn’t worth it to me anymore.
