AT&T launch updates: HTC Fuze, Samsung Mirage, Bold moved to November?

Bear with us folks. We’ve just got ahold of an AT&T product sheet dated September 17th. Also known as “the most up to date doc you’ve seen”. Before we get into the BlackBerry Bold nonsense, here’s a break down on what the sheet says:

  • HTC Fuze will launch on October 23nd
  • Motorola V9x (new V9 with GPS) launches on October 2nd
  • Samsung Mirage i907 (basically our version of the Omnia) launches on October 21st
  • Pantech C740 in red, navy, and green launches on October 14th
  • Nokia 6650 launches in red and silver on October 23rd
  • BlackBerry 8320 in that totally cool color launches on October 21st
  • BlackBerry Pearl in pink launches on October 2nd
  • The BlackBerry Curve in “burnt orange” is pushed to “2009″.
  • The regular BlackBerry Curve is discontinued
  • The Palm Treo 680s are discontinued

Now for the weird stuff… this sheet lists the BlackBerry Bold with a November ETA. We’re not so sure what’s going on, but we’re sticking very firm to our October 2nd launch date on AT&T. There you have it, guys! Larger image after the jump.

I spoke to an ATT sales rep at an authorized dealership. He said he’s also part of the marketing or IT team or something for the BB Bold. He has confirmed the November release date. =(

oh goodness…this is getting ridiculous…really ridiculous. I guess they really are having MAJOR issues with the Bold. I’m just going to have to stick with my Curve on T-Mobile I guess…very sad! BG please dig up some more info for us Bold fans. Hopefully you can prove this launch date wrong…

WTF?!?! You said in spite of this doc, you’re “sticking very firm” to your Oct 2 date. Can you say why you’re keeping the faith vis-à-vis that date?

Well, considering I was between the bold and the storm and basically was going to choose based on which came out first I think I’m going to have to go storm. At least vzw hasn’t dicked us around for 5 months. And since my company pays for the plan, i’ll take the best coverage in the US, thank you.

@ Snax, oh no you idiot. Why don’t they just release the damn thing with a bunch of bugs so you and every other idiot on here bashing them can be the same ones calling in and bitching when it doesn’t work properly. WTF!! Let them make sure the phone works properly. I don’t want a buggy ass phone. Do you?

this doesn’t look well for the bold. This could effect it’s sales here with this constant push back while other options are becoming prevalent

I was speaking with one of the guys that is testing the Bold for AT&T in NYC, he said it would launch within 3 weeks or so. He said that the hardware version he had was the final and what would ship barring no other problems.

Maybe rim are the ones holding it back until att gets its sh!tty network issues sorted out. You havn’t heard of any bold related issues from any of the other countries selling it have you? and I havn’t heard much about iphone issues abroad either. Maybe rim is smart in waiting to avoid all the bad press about its “plaguing network problems”

Either that, or ATT knows thier sh!tty network can’t handle another high profile/high sales 3G device until they fix something.

I sent in a tip a couple of weeks ago telling BGR that the bold was coming out november 1st, but of course nobody listened to me. My source is extremely reliable, but who am I to say anything, im just some random person on the internet, not BGR.

I’ve about had it with AT&T. All the had to do is make an OFFICIAL announcement regarding the BOLD and be honest with their customers. I’m switching to VZN; enough is enough!

    @AlexR,

“I sent in a tip a couple of weeks ago telling BGR that the bold was coming out november 1st, but of course nobody listened to me”

You’re not alone in that - read back in my comments here about a month ago where I pointed out a couple of times that the Bold won’t launch on AT&T before end-Oct or early Nov.

I think blogs like this have discovered that putting out a random launch date for a hot device draws traffic. Then, when that made-up date comes and goes, they go about shouting “RIM Fail! Bold delayed YET AGAIN”, which of course draws even more hits and advertising dollars

Very interesting. I was at an AT&T store last night and the guy said end of Oct / Nov. He said it was something to do with how much stock AT&T wanted to release with.

Not sure, thought he was smoking something when he said November.

    From Wednesday’s Globe and Mail

It looks as though BlackBerry enthusiasts in the U.S. have yet another reason to hate the iPhone.

Research In Motion Ltd.’s BlackBerry Bold has yet to launch with its exclusive U.S. carrier and it appears that Apple Inc.’s latest iPhone may be the reason why.

Even though the Bold is available in more than a dozen countries, AT&T Inc. has yet to offer the device in the U.S. because iPhone data traffic is clogging the telecom giant’s networks, according to analysts.

Both devices use the same next generation (3G) network technology, but it now appears AT&T wasn’t prepared for the bandwidth-hogging Apple device and doesn’t have the resources to launch the Bold until it cures its iPhone issues.

One reason is that the iPhone lacks the data compression technology that is a hallmark of RIM’s BlackBerry devices.

“AT&T really relied upon RIM for its data network management,” Canaccord Adams analyst Peter Misek wrote in a note to clients this week. “Recall that RIM manages virtually all of the data traffic for its carriers globally … AT&T in our view was spoiled by the fact that RIM essentially shielded the carrier from the full burden on the network.”

Also, whereas BlackBerry data traffic is channelled through RIM’s servers, the iPhone utilizes a “ping-pong” technology which must constantly access AT&T’s network in order to receive data and e-mails, placing a great strain on the telecom company’s cellular infrastructure. “We believe that AT&T is now realizing that it can have up to 20 BlackBerrys for every iPhone on its network,” Mr. Misek said. AT&T will need to spend as much as $1-billion (U.S.) to repair its network, he added.

The Bold launched in Canada with Rogers Wireless Communications Inc. on Aug. 21.

RIM co-chief executive officer Jim Balsillie told a wireless industry conference last week that he expects the Bold will be available in the U.S. through AT&T in October.

AT&T’s wireless business did not respond to requests for comment. RIM (TSX) rose $3.03 (Canadian) to $107.63. ATT (NYSE) fell 27 cents to $24.65. Matt Hartley

Ughh!!! I’m not surprised at this at all. at&t makes me sick with what they have done as of late with the Bold! 5 months is just a little ridiculous, and not even a real deal official release date from the carrier. Big mistake on at&t’s part, especially with Verizon pushing the Storm out the door the first week of November. FYI, Verizons network pounces on at&t’s as late!

I’ll be getting a Storm, at&t gets no love from me at all. And all us BB faith full have a lil tiny red apple to blame this on.

Marc, plenty of Bolds working just fine on the network now and iphones are working as they should after the 2.1 update. Your spam in the comments is just another financial analyst guessing at why the device has been delayed. Yes thats all it is a guess.

Perhaps RIM would want both Storm and Bold to be released closer together to flood the media with advertising.
