Free WiFi at McDonald’s for all Zune Owners
Zuners old and new will be happy to learn that moving forward, getting your calories on is no longer a roadblock when it comes to hitting the Zune Marketplace on the go. While AT&T goes back and forth with free WiFi for iPhone users at Starbucks, Microsoft is moving full speed ahead by signing a three-year deal that will allow all Zune users to access WiFi at any WiFi-equipped McDonald’s absolutely free of charge. Hmm, we wonder which will kill you faster, Starbucks or McDonald’s? While the Zune doesn’t have a web browser, users will have speedy access to the Zune Marketplace in the event that the background music at McDonald’s just isn’t providing the right vibe as you devour your Big Mac. Patrons can now browse the Marketplace catalog, download new tracks and even use the sweet new Buy from FM feature with what will surely be a pretty wide open pipe. Everything is coming up Zune lately, huh? Free WiFi with your burgers, updated models and the 3.0 software is even available for download from the Zune site and now. Keep it coming, Microsoft.

Without a web browser what use could having a free wifi be? not much.
The thing that’s really coming up Zune (apparently, I haven’t tried it out yet) is the Mix feature that supposedly is better than Apple’s Genius thingy in iTunes 8.
I didn’t know McDonald’s had wifi…
Way to go microsoft!
How very appropriate since they have to give those things away in Happy Meals. What’s really funny is that there are probably more McDonald’s joints than Zune owners.
nice to see what type of clientele ms is trying to cultivate
Go Microsoft! Don’t worry about what the competition and do you. More features and services at every turn. I’m loving that right now. Just keep up that pace and hit em with zune 4.0 that blows everyone out the water…can’t wait!
oops, meant to say “don’t worry about what the competition is doing and do you”*
Cool idea, but do people really want to spend more time in a Mcdonalds than they have to?
To all the unbelievers: Zune rocks! Be sheep and buy an iSuk, or grow a brain and get a Zune. Anyone that thinks ipos is better has never used a Zune. Once you use a Zune you realize what life is like with a OS that makes sense, and is easy to use. The unlimited Zune pass is awesome, being able to update your library on the road at the McDees is very smart. You don’t have to go in, just park there. As anyone with kids knows McDees is a saviour while on a long road trip. I am ecstatic to have yet another feature added to my 3 year old device for free. I am glad I have a brain and didn’t follow the heard, or I would be paying for my new features whenever they came out. Microsoft, you ROCK.
I think the think-tank at Microsoft have lost it’s edge. Most would rather have use to the web than looking to down load music. Heck if you can get Pandora or ourstage that’s all you need for music. But to get mail, news, and etc. That’s what it’s all about.
